Yes...and as I've mentioned, I did that, so I do have the books from Baen...but I have them in the .mobi format. I found out that I no longer had access to them because I went back to download them in .epub format.

Is there any reason you can't convert them to epub using Calibre? I did that with all my old .prc books I used to read on my Palm.

Converted mobi is almost never as good as an original epub. Some of the formatting is lost, as mobi doesn't support several epub features.

And go back to Baen and download any eBooks you can in ePub.

Just a thought, are you logging in when you go to Baen and selecting downloads from the menu after logging in?

You should see all your titles there, even those ones no longer available.

Have you contacted Baen about this? It wouldn't hurt to see what they have to say about this issue.

Amazon may have negotiated a better licensing deal with on those books than Baen did on its.

I don't know. Amazon can afford to keep storing, and Baen can't or doesn't want to? Total speculation.

eta: As Apache suggested, ask Baen.

Maybe different contract (or contract not being followed).

Question have been asked and answered ten years ago.

From Baen's Bar forum Toni Table 21 January 2016.
Quote:
Unfortunately, sometimes when rights revert or contracts expire, the authors insist that they be completely deleted from the systems. My understanding is that Baen attempts to retain rights for those who have already purchased them to continually be able to download them, but some authors or agents refuse to allow this. ALWAYS make backup copies of ebooks you've purchased.

I can see them, but I can't download them. I've attached a screenshot of what I see.

My old laptop says that I cannot use Windows 11. Can you tell me how to know if I have a 3rd generation Core processor? I love this PC, and I hate to stop using it. My new 14" laptop is too small. I can barely read anything online. Gives me a headache. TIA

Old PC:
Device Name SONY-Tap-20-40GB3KG
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3517U CPU @ 1.90GHz 1.90 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.88 GB usable)
Storage 932 GB SSD Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB
Graphics Card Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 (32 MB)

System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch Touch support with 10 touch points

EDIT: I think I figured out why my old laptop cannot use Windows 11. My T.P.M. shows 1.5, not 2.0 which is what Windows 11 requires. It is a shame that the TPM cannot be changed.
