Recent Updates
Quote:
ScrollWizard 1.0.2

• Improved sharing books into ScrollWizard from other apps
• More reliable reading position, including from Live Activities
• Clearer sync conflict details
• Broader translations and overall polish

Happy reading. 📖

----

ScrollWizard 1.0.1

Metadata changes

----

ScrollWizard 1.0.0

Initial release.
MOBI, AZW3, and CBZ are not on the roadmap. Calibre converts these formats to EPUB. SuperComfySoft will not be reimplementing Calibre.

Revenue

The $4.99 upgrade. No subscription, no ads, no analytics.
(Localized prices may differ)

Data Retention

ScrollWizard transmits no reading data to SuperComfySoft and runs no analytics. The single exception is a crash reporter, disabled by default, which the reader may choose to enable; when enabled, anonymized crash reports are sent to a third-party service on servers in Germany, with name, email, IP address, device identifier, book titles, and file paths removed. The library is EPUB files in an iCloud folder.

Correspondence

Defect reports are received by email at ihaveabugreportandcareenoughtosendan...llwi zard.com. The thread is for questions, feature requests, and general correspondence.

Why don't you allow adjusting the font weight and installing the fonts we want to use? When you add these features, I'll give your app a try.

Installing your own fonts is already supported: ScrollWizard reads imported .ttf and .otf files, with the control in Settings under Custom Fonts; imported fonts then appear in the font picker while reading. SuperComfySoft has not publicized this with adequate vigor. The feature is part of Advanced Wizard Mode, a single one-time purchase of $4.99; the app itself is free, and there is no subscription. Font weight is not currently adjustable; the reader exposes font family, size, line height, and letter spacing. The request has been noted.

I tend to avoid vibe-coded apps like the plague but I decided to install this one and it couldn’t even open a book that I’m currently reading.

The OP’s posts and the app’s description in the AppStore look AI generated, this leads me to an assumption that the app is vibe-coded.

Both fair, yes I'm using a specific corporate tone I personally find funny, but that's maybe the wrong register for Mobileread. The corporate tone in the first post and the App Store text is a deliberate bit: one developer doing a straight-faced "SuperComfySoft Communications Dept." Cold, with no context, I can see it reads too much AI instead. It's weird but my kind of funny.

@DJUNGELSKOG a reader that won't open a book is the worst thing this app can do, so I'd genuinely like to fix the one you hit. Anything you can tell me about the file would help and what actually happened. Was it a blank page, error, crash, hang? Title or the file itself is even better. If it's a real parsing bug I'll chase it down. "Won't open" is exactly the class I care most about and I've collected a lot of bad epubs that are being unit tested at the moment.

In the end I'm just making an app that's solving my problems with other reading software. I appreciate the installs and I'll try to be better.

I am not comfortable with sharing the file as it’s something that I’ve “liberated” from CloudLibrary against my own principles.

That being said, I’ve imported it into the app through iPadOS share sheet from Pocketbook app like I always do, and I suspect that this is the part where it went wrong because I could see the book’s cover and the title in the app, but the author was being displayed as “unknown author”. When I tried to open the book by clicking on its cover, the library screen has flashed and nothing else happened. I’m on iPadOS 16.7.15 if that matters.

I use Pocketbook as a replacement for Calibre Companion that stopped working a few years ago.

Do the following. Use calibre with the Scramble Ebook plugin and try to load it. If the scrambled version doesn't load, you can attach it in this thread,

Alright I've uploaded 1.0.2 to the App Store, after the review it will be available to download. (This can take up to a week, but usually much quicker).

I've looked at DJUNGELSKOG's description and I found some quirks when sharing from other apps (like Pocketbook). This is solved with some other improvements in that area. I can't reproduce errors without access to the file that is causing the error so I can't guarantee your specific problem is solved now but maybe you can check it out again. If you'd like to collaborate on solving the issue, please contact me directly at bugreport@scrollwizard.com

The changelog for 1.0.2 is:

Quote:
ScrollWizard 1.0.2

• Improved sharing books into ScrollWizard from other apps
• More reliable reading position, including from Live Activities
• Clearer sync conflict details
• Broader translations and overall polish

Happy reading. 📖

I've updated the main post to include the full feature list, I don't think the features were very obvious in my original post and I've updated the screenshots to actually fit forum width.

Hi all,

I've tried my hand at implementing font weights. In order to avoid cluttering the Quick Settings, you must enable it by navigating to Settings > Advanced Section. Standard offers a few standard buttons and Precise offers fine-grained controls for variable fonts that support it. Please check it out!

As always, I've uploaded it to the App Store and after a review it should hit your update screens within a few days.

Changelog 1.0.3:
Quote:
• New font-weight control in Advanced Settings lets you fine-tune how bold and italic text renders. To enable controls in Quick Settings: enable Font Weight in Settings > Advanced.
• Also includes bug fixes and improvements.
