Gutenberg Curator is a Calibre GUI plugin for browsing Project Gutenberg lists from inside Calibre.

What it does

- Browse Project Gutenberg Top 100
- Browse Emmy's Picks
- Browse curated Project Gutenberg reading-list Collections
- Browse human-read Audiobooks
- Pick a preferred ebook format before downloading or adding to Calibre
- If the preferred ebook format is unavailable, choose the next available non-audio ebook format
- Optionally ask Calibre to convert non-preferred ebook formats after adding
- Show progress/status messages while lists, downloads, and Calibre imports are working

Compatibility

- Calibre 6.0.0 or newer
- Windows, macOS, and Linux

Install

1. Download the attached ZIP.
2. Do not unzip it.
3. In Calibre, open Preferences > Plugins.
4. Click Load plugin from file.
5. Select the ZIP.
6. Accept the third-party plugin warning.
7. Restart Calibre.
8. If the button does not appear, add Gutenberg Curator from Preferences > Toolbars & menus.

Notes

Project Gutenberg availability can vary by network and endpoint. If Gutenberg cannot be reached, the plugin should report the issue instead of freezing Calibre.

Top 100 changes daily. Emmy's Picks are included as their own tab. Collections and Audiobooks can load more rows when needed, but larger loads can take longer.

What's new in 0.6.23

- Fixed the in-app Plugin Support button so it opens the LB Creations support page.
- Plugin Support now pre-fills the support form with Gutenberg Curator, the active section, and selected book details when available.
- Closing Calibre from the Dock should no longer be blocked by an open Gutenberg Curator window during background work.
- Keeps the recent audiobook folder/progress improvements.

You need to attach the 0.6.23 version and you need to report your post so you can get a moderator to move your new version in place of your old version until you have access to edit messages.

Um... 0.6.23 is a BETA version. I doubt very much it should be in the first post.

Totally fair. This project is still beta overall, including the first-post build. I’ll make sure that’s clear anywhere the download appears, and once a build feels stable enough I’ll call that out separately.

Thanks, I’ll do that. I’ve attached 0.6.23 in the thread, and I’ll report the post so a moderator can move the current download into the first post until I have edit access. I’ll also make sure the first post clearly labels the plugin as beta, since the project is still in beta overall.

In that case, 0.6.17 should also not be in the first post as it's also a beta. And in that case, this thread should not exist.

So yes, 0.6.23 should be in the first post. All releases should be in the first post until it's out of beta.
