AZW as in mobi format or generic AZW extension which could be anything from tpz to kfx? I haven't used the new Windows app, but I know Kindle for PC used azw extensions regardless of format.

When you get an eBook in AZW, it could only be in KFX if you have other files to go with it as KFX is multi-file from Amazon. It's the KFX Input plugin that puts it all together in one file once there is no DRM.

With the new app? It seems like it's easier than it has been in a long time. Admittedly I haven't bothered to try it yet myself.

For me, the new Windows app is easier to use remove DRM from than the 2.9.1 K4PC app.

I just moved my books to a new Windows 11 laptop and updated Calibre.

What exactly do I need to download for my new Windows 11 laptop? I know the old K4PC is not needed, I think. I have read all of these posts, but they tend to go in and out my brain by the 8th page of posts. TIA.

I run into trouble installing the thing that takes the downloaded KFX and moves it to another folder to be imported in to Calibre. It either throws up an error or tells me I have the wrong version of K4PC installed, though I do not.

Anyway, I just gave up. Most things are available at Kobo or Smashwords (Smashwords is so much better than it used to be).

Those that remain are indies and as mentioned, I've reached out to a couple of those authors with success.
