How to get clues about upcoming Kobo ereaders?

Just realised not long ago that the FCC report site is dead. Or at least it hasn't been updated for a while, the last record is from 2025-06-17, which was over a year ago. I thought it's just Netronix, but none of the other companies are updated.

This was a primary source for info on an upcoming Kobo device, way before it was announced or hinted at in the media.
So what's next, does anyone know a similar site to this?

Yes, the device it lists would be a bit smaller than I'd like, I think.

I do see that the Kobo Libra Color has been updated since 2025-09 (FCC ID NOIKBN428B), so it appears that Kobo is releasing updated versions of existing models.

What "we" mortals may wish at our heart's content is not what can be seen as a fact that Kobo is extending the lifespan of existing devices, so I doubt we see at least a new Libra replacement soon.

But that doesn't help anyone who wants a new Reader.

Perhaps Jon would be less irritating if he started using 'I' instead of 'we' when giving his personal opinions?

I do wonder why Kobo isn't releasing new ereaders. They have fewer current models than Amazon or Pocketbook. Are they having financial troubles or what?

I'm starting to lose hope that they will release anything new at all.

He is far from being the only one who wants new black and white models with 7" or 8" screen. Everyone else offers those, but not Kobo. Well, the Sage hasn't been officially discontinued, but it's now almost 5 years old and unavailable in many countries.

The question was not if more people than Jon want a new 7" or 8" B&W screen. The question is more than when Jon is offering his opinion, he insists on using 'we' without offering any supporting evidence. "A recent poll by whomever about e-reader preferences showed about 40% of the respondents wanted a new mid-size 7-9" B&W screen ereader" for an example.

Even using 'I've read quite a few messages when the poster indicated a preference' instead of 'we' would be an improvement. Jon is not an editor, he is not royal and I strongly suspect he does not have a tapeworm.

Someone posted on reddit that they received an email from the kobo CEO, which is apparently some marketing material, although the last few sentences could be interesting / concerning:

"We have some amazing projects that should be ready to share with you in the second half of the year – developments that will fundamentally change how we read and write on our devices. We're going to keep pushing at the edges of what reading can be."

Well, from my viewpoint it's rather concerning.

I doubt that a tapeworm would want a new ereader anyway... For one thing, it wouldn't fit in there.

Yeah. Maybe they're moving away from eink readers altogether.
