Why don't you allow adjusting the font weight and installing the fonts we want to use? When you add these features, I'll give your app a try.

Installing your own fonts is already supported: ScrollWizard reads imported .ttf and .otf files, with the control in Settings under Custom Fonts; imported fonts then appear in the font picker while reading. SuperComfySoft has not publicized this with adequate vigor. The feature is part of Advanced Wizard Mode, a single one-time purchase of $4.99; the app itself is free, and there is no subscription. Font weight is not currently adjustable; the reader exposes font family, size, line height, and letter spacing. The request has been noted.

I tend to avoid vibe-coded apps like the plague but I decided to install this one and it couldn’t even open a book that I’m currently reading.

Both fair, yes I'm using a specific corporate tone I personally find funny, but that's maybe the wrong register for Mobileread. The corporate tone in the first post and the App Store text is a deliberate bit: one developer doing a straight-faced "SuperComfySoft Communications Dept." Cold, with no context, I can see it reads too much AI instead. It's weird but my kind of funny.
@DJUNGELSKOG a reader that won't open a book is the worst thing this app can do, so I'd genuinely like to fix the one you hit. Anything you can tell me about the file would help and what actually happened. Was it a blank page, error, crash, hang? Title or the file itself is even better. If it's a real parsing bug I'll chase it down. "Won't open" is exactly the class I care most about and I've collected a lot of bad epubs that are being unit tested at the moment. In the end I'm just making an app that's solving my problems with other reading software. I appreciate the installs and I'll try to be better. |

That being said, I’ve imported it into the app through iPadOS share sheet from Pocketbook app like I always do, and I suspect that this is the part where it went wrong because I could see the book’s cover and the title in the app, but the author was being displayed as “unknown author”. When I tried to open the book by clicking on its cover, the library screen has flashed and nothing else happened. I’m on iPadOS 16.7.15 if that matters. I use Pocketbook as a replacement for Calibre Companion that stopped working a few years ago. Last edited by DJUNGELSKOG; Today at 05:04 AM. |
