Delay recent books from moving to top

So, on the Kindle, even if you have your books arranged by Recent, when you back out of a book, it's still where it was when you opened it, until you go elsewhere in the Kindle. Only when you move/click away does it jump to the top of your books. You can, for example, open a book, back out, then add it to a collection, without needing to scroll up to find it again first.

Is there a way to recreate this on the Kobo? Maybe something added to the config file? Right now when I back out of a book, it's gone to the top, and I need to scroll around to find it again.

Obviously organising by title or author would mean the books don't move, but that's not convenient for me.

In My Books, have you tried setting the sort to date added instead of recent?

Sure, but that doesn't do what I want it to do. I want to sort by Recent, just for the books not to immediately jump to the top when I back out of them.

What's the reason you don't want them to jump to the top? I mean, I can't even imagine why anyone would want that. If it's to put them in a collection, I don't use manual collections at all. Calibre sorts all my books into collections automatically when I connect my Kobo.

Like I said in the original post, I find it annoying, especially since I'm used to how it works on Kindles. I can live with it, but I'd prefer a way to arrange it the way I want.

(And for disability reasons re my hands being messed up, I don't use Calibre for tags or collections, or most sorting. Repeated clicking causes me a lot of pain, whereas using a touchscreen doesn't. So manual collections are my only option, at least until the day I can run Calibre via my tablet or something.)

Sorry to read about your hands. I don't know any way to do what you want. Personally I think you're still too attached to the ways things are done on Kindles and trying to recreate all or even most of them on a Kobo will only make you frustrated and unhappy. They're two different devices, after all. I do know how it feels - I felt the same way when I moved from Kindles to Kobos. At first I tried to emulate my Kindles as much as possible, but that desire faded in time, as I got used to the Kobo ways.

Yep, that's very possible (that I'm still too attached to Kindle Ways). Like I said, I can live with it! It's just that there's been so many excellent tweaks that can be made to the config file that I wondered if there was something similar for this. But you're right, I'm pretty sure I'll get used to it.

There ARE many tweaks that can be done via the config file and the patches, so ask away if you'd like something to be different. Just be prepared that it may not be possible.

(I remember how I behaved with my first Kobo - I tried to get the text to look exactly like it was on my Oasis and tinkered and messed with it for hours, and annoyed MR members with endless questions and complaints. The widows and orphans stuff was one of the first annoying things that I noticed on my new Kobo. I still use that tweak on all my Kobos.)
