The result is that now there's a button that does nothing.

You could open a ticket on the NickelMenu GitHub to ask for such a feature, but I guess you currently can't disable the main NickelMenu button.

I am on windows and have a kobo libra color. For some reason, nickel menu will not show up on my kobo. My computer keeps downloading the nickel menu file as a zip file. I tried to copy the nickel menu file zipped and unzipped but still to no avail. I really want nickel menu on my kobo.

Hi y'all, I was wondering if there was a way to trigger the Kobo sync (Sync Now button) through NickelMenu? Ideally would like to have an option that turns on Wi-Fi -> connects to network -> runs the sync -> turns off wi-fi. Thanks in advance for any help here!

An option to start the sync would be fantastic!

I think you can do it by opening the discover page for example (using the NickelMenu config file). But it would be nice if it is possible to just start the sync by itself in the background instead of having NickelMenu opening the discover page on the device while you are using it for other things when you just want to do a sync.

You can trigger kobo sync by tapping on the sync button which is on most screens already. It does everything on your list except turn the wifi off. Although, it asks you if you want to turn on wifi, and half the time if it was off, the sync fails even after you tap on that.

You can trigger article sync from the 3 dots menu on that screen, and probably also for dropbox and google drive. Other than that, those are the only ones you can explicitly individually trigger.

If you turn on wifi and go to the my books screen, *sometimes* it will trigger book sync.

The main sync does like 4-5 separate actions one at a time (very slowly). I wish I could either trigger each of those separately or get a checkbox menu to tell it which ones I want it to do.

It MUST have the extension .tgz not .zip to work. Try renaming the file to have that extension. (Or open the .zip fle and extract the .tgz file, if there's one in it.)

I had no trouble getting it installed on a Libra Colour.

Where are you downloading NickelMenu from?

For what it may be worth, I had downloaded the 2026-Jun-12 build of NickelMenu since I was interested in the added home screen widget controls. I'm going to temporarily make that build accessible to non-GitHub members at:

NickelMenu.zip

The sha256 for NickelMenu.zip is
B2B94C9444E5C0D6B8DAE5D0BFB13ED0EA9CC7E9184E418322 9A546293A6CE19

The sha-256 for KoboRoot.tgz is
385988BD233B3A798E075184C4D74FAE897C94E74CD959727D 775A892E940924

Extract KoboRoot.tgz from the .zip file and copy it to the .kobo directory on your Kobo ereader, safely eject and the install should start. Please note that the basic install has no enabled actions. You need to generate your own config file to place .adds/nm directory based on the examples in the doc file installed by the NickelMenu installation in that directory.
