I found powershell a pain to run until I discovered I could run it from a bat file. One can do almost anything with both.

True, I love my quick access list and use it a lot. In this case I prefer a shortcut because I can rename it to include the word kindle and position it next to the kindle app. A link on the quick access would just show "content" and can't be renamed (without changing the folder name as well) and I would likely forget what is at that link because I wouldn't be using it frequently.

What am I doing wrong
Hello ~ Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm on Windows 11, using Calibre 9.9 with plugin DeDRM 10.0.3 and the MS Kindle app ver 1.0.16188. I take my .azw book from the file @ C:Users\me\AppData\Local\Packages\AMZNKindle.Amazo nKindleReadingApp_m1sc522ngdk36\LocalState\Classic \Conten and it's still locked.* I take an older book from the older kindle pc folder and it works.
Any suggestions? ![]() Sherri |

And you also need the KFX Input plugin.

If I understand correctly, there’s a new DRM removal method that’s just as easy as some of the older methods… It uses a new Kindle Windows app (a successor to the old Kindle for PC app). Is that right? Do we know why Amazon introduced a new Kindle Windows app? I thought Amazon wanted to steer PC users towards its browser interface (Kindle Cloud Reader)? Relying on a browser interface gives Amazon more control and less software to support. From Amazon‘s perspective, isn’t re-introducing a dedicated PC app a step backwards? correct. currently its even easier than with the more recent versions of the old kindle app (at least on the user facing side)

I really expected them to stop having a Windows app altogether.

I mean, how many people use the Windows app to read? I imagine more people were still using the old Kindles which Amazon cut off for actual reading than people reading with the old or new Windows Kindle app. If you don't have an ereader, you're more likely using a mobile app on a phone or tablet, not a PC or Mac.
