Download Metadata - Published: Unknown

I have been lately getting "Published: Unknown" when downloading metadata. Even with recent known books that exist in Amazon, Goodreads, etc.

My metadata sources are:
  • Amazon.com
  • Goodreads
  • Google
  • Open Library

EDIT: Looks like the only source returning results in most cases is Google and I had not configured the plugin to fetch Publisher and Published Date. Now I get both values.

But still, strange that other sources do not return anything, even with a valid isbn.

Which are, in your opinion, the best plugins to fetch metadata?

Goodreads has upped the security so it no longer works. Amazon has always been hit or miss and mostly miss. Open Library is worthless if it works.

I don't know about Google.

I liked Barnes & Noble when it used to work but it looks like it doesn’t anymore and just slows down fetching metadata.

So what are good alternatives?

My options for metadata download are:
  1. Amazon from Amazon servers
  2. Kobo Metadata
  3. Smashwords Metadata
  4. Romance.io (my spouse's favourite)
  5. Baen (more for historical reasons)

For book covers:
  1. Apple Books covers
  2. Kindle hi-res covers

The Smashwords plugin no longer works. basically, they changed the site so that you need to login to do a search.
