This is a massive upgrade, great job!
i have two suggestions: 1. A high-contrast theme for eink readers. No gradients, no shadows, pure black and white with small grays. 2. Configurable which columns are shown on the sidebar. I have a lot of metadata, not all of them useful for searches. It gets crowded. I could contribute css for the high contrast version, but am unsure how to do that as my coding skills beyond CSS are minimal. |

Thank you Kovid for being patient with me.
. I've been annoying.I like the series cover stacking together. Look really nice. But the series with 2 books still shows only one cover. This is minor. PS: I'm using the content server on my phone, not only testing for fun. |

@nqk: yes it needs at least 3 covers IIRC. You'd have to ask Exhen the original developer why that is.
@ovillo: I doubt this interface would be useable on eink regardless of theme, for eink use the mobile view which you can get via adding /mobile to the server URL. ANd you can already configurethe columns in the sidebar via settings (the last item in the sidebar) Last edited by kovidgoyal; 06-16-2026 at 07:25 AM. |

Disagree!
I actually managed to create a (terribly hand-mangled) version of the html had posted in a PR to work with e-ink. Most of the work was just changing colours to increase contrast. It works super well in my Boox https://github.com/wordsandpics/eink-ccs Moderator Notice

You are welcome to try but it wont be easy and its not something I am interested in since the /mobile interface exists for this purpose.

Fair enough, thanks.
I don't suppose there's a way of loading a user stylesheed into index-generated without editing the html itself? |

There is no HTML or CSS it's all programmatically generated from JS.

Encountered 2 Unhandled Exceptions
Noted 2 unhandled exceptions today while adding books to the library using the beta server software (.104).
My network was exceptionally slow for unrelated reasons. I clicked the + icon to add books and dropped 3 new books on the UI window. It took longer than usual. The “green line” progress bar had completed, but the “open” button for each book had not yet appeared. Because I thought the addition had competed, I then clicked Browse/Authors and got an Unhandled Exception. TypeError: can't access property "getElementsByTagName", w is undefined Error at http://192.168.0.53:9096/:37964:17 Traceback (most recent call last): progress_callback@http://192.168.0.53:9096/:6178:32 on_progress@http://192.168.0.53:9096/:38116:37 update_status_widget@http://192.168.0.53:9096/:37964:17 After closing the error message, the following Unhandled Exception appeared (seemed that it might have been hidden by the above error): TypeError: can't access property "firstChild", node is undefined Error at http://192.168.0.53:9096/:7205:24 Traceback (most recent call last): ρσ_anonfunc@http://192.168.0.53:9096/:6247:38 complete_callback@http://192.168.0.53:9096/:6215:28 on_complete@http://192.168.0.53:9096/:38228:18 clear@http://192.168.0.53:9096/:7205:24 This is unlikely to be encountered when the network is fast, but all Exceptions should be handled, IMHO. Thanks again for such a major upgrade! |

I don't suppose my favorite peeve might ever get addressed: Browse / Authors Browse / Series How about adding Browse / Title ? If I do a Search and type Little Women, I get 383 hits. If I add quotes and Search "Little Women", I get 10 hits. (Nice that I no longer get the irksome "Replace double quotes with single quotes?" prompt, thanks for that.) I'd really like a Browse / Title and just type Little Women and get exactly that book. Well, maybe not "Browse / Title", maybe Search Title? Last edited by Metapath; Yesterday at 09:19 PM. |

No if you want to search for an exact phrase you need to use quotes.

I can live with quotes (started programming almost 50 years ago), but so many of the youngsters I talk to don't understand. They think it's silly to have to add them. Oh well, thanks anyway. |

Server and GUI search functionality is identical. Any search you do in the GUI you can do in the server.
