'Metadata Unavailable' Problem

Two weeks ago I uploaded a study Bible to JustRead (from the Calibre Sync app), and since then it's showing 'metadata unavailable' and the cover is also missing. I'm also unable to export highlights from the book.

While the cover is missing when viewed from the Home and Library pages, it's available in the Details view.

How to resolve this problem?

(Ideally, I would prefer to use this book in the Kindle app, but it's an EPUB and multiple transfer attempts have failed. It's probably due to the number of links.)

I just realized there's a rename option; in there, I updated the missing author field, and that enabled me to export the highlights. The book is still missing a cover, which is a bit of an eyesore, but the highlights export was the most important thing for me.

Can you please try deleting the book and adding it again?
- using Calibre sync
- just copying the file into the folder with all the books and then pull to refresh in the library

Personally, I think debugging is a legitimate use, and copyright shouldn't prevent it.

However, you could see if a scrambled version would exhibit the same problem, and send that. See the Scramble Ebook plugin.

And you might want to look into using justRead's built-in calibre server connection, instead of using calibreSync. IMO it's much easier than having two apps, and it syncs read status and position back to calibre if you enable it.

Also as I read post from pdurrant: you use another app to sync the books? Why? You can use Calibre Sync functionality inside justRead.
Can you please try sync the file either using Calibre sync inside the app or by copying into the folder with books?

Thanks for making me aware of the Scramble Ebook plugin. I've sent the scrambled EPUB via email.

The Calibre server has always been problematic for me and the Calibre Sync app was like a Godsend. I use CS to send books to other apps and justRead is just one more I added to the list.

Problem found and fixed. Thank you for that scrambled epub.

The problem was with the size of the epub. Or better say with number of files inside. Or better say with the number of sections. The algorithm for calculating pages (which was made to match the ADE algorithm) went through thousands of sections in this file and timed out (on a default 30s timeout).
Fixed and because 3.4 did non entered Apple verification, will be in 3.4
