Currently 23°C so made for a nice morning walk. The high is supposed to hit 29°C today and 31°C on Sunday. The humidity during most of the day will be ~55%.

Sigh ... immensely enjoyed 2 days of relatively 'normal' June weather, but now back to the heat wave - 101 F so far today, extreme drought continues - lawn is brown & crunchy, crabgrass is flourishing

Today's the start of what will certainly be an unofficial heatwave and maybe an official one as well. Today, in my suburban neighbourhood, temps rose to over 30℃, there wasn't much wind and humidity was high. So even in the morning, when it was below 25℃ it was very unpleasant. Tomorrow temps should go up to 33℃, but that's at the official measuring station, in a shaded place in a field somewhere. So I'm expecting it to reach 35℃ at least in urban areas.
Temperatures will be just under or over 30℃ until at least Wednesday, with a high humidity. So there's a possibility of thunderstorms and hail. I'm glad I'm working indoors tomorrow, where, according to a colleague it should stay relatively cool. But after work I'll have to walk to my parents' place. It's a 15 minute walk, if that, but I'm not looking forward to it. On Saturday I'm going to Dutch Comic Con and I'm really glad I don't cosplay! I've already got some electrolyte drink and an old fashioned fan to bring with me to keep me hydrated and cool. |

A nice day for a morning walk and, while a bit warmer, the afternoon looks the same.

Had 5 minutes of torrential rain (tiny green dot on the radar), temp dropped to 80 F -- then sun came out and all has returned to the steamy humid heat wave norm for this month

Usually thunderstorms aren't that impressive where I live. But last night we got a proper sever thunderstorm that lasted three hours.
You could see the lightning approaching from the distance and it got very windy before it arrived. Lightning flashing continuously and there was a constant rumble of thunder, with the occasional louder thunderclap. The storm ended with hail. Right now (almost 9am) it's already over 20℃ and temperatures are going up to 28℃ today, so not as warm as yesterday (32℃). The current prediction is that it'll stay between 27℃ and 32℃ until the end of the month. At least at work it's relatively cool. Today I'm going to Dutch Comic Con. I'm prepared for the heat, hopefully the airco work well at the conference center, but I doubt it. |

Another hot day, it's now (10.15am) only 22℃, because it's cloudy. It is very humid, though, so it feels a lot warmer. This afternoon temperatures should rise to around 28℃. Overnight we had another thunderstorm, though not as severe or as long as the night before.
It looks like all of next week it's going to stay hot; 28℃ to 34℃ on Friday. On Friday I'm back at working at my regular store after the refurbishment. Hopefully the air-conditioning is not only working that day, but has been on for at least a couple of days to cool the store down. |

From today we're getting weather of over 30℃. From tomorrow there's an amber weather warning for the heat. And on Friday temperatures are set to be between 35℃ and 37℃. After that they will go down and from Monday (hopefully) it'll be below 30℃.
We're also in for a couple of warm nights; over 20℃. Hopefully the weather predictions will be true and temperatures will start to drop next week. I'm also wondering what my job is going to do to keep us comfortable on Friday. We're going to start stocking the shelves and getting the store ready for reopening next Wednesday. The store is in a basement and it's got air conditioning, but I assume it's been switched off during the refurbishment. I'm assuming we whilst we are expected to wear closed shoes and sturdy pants that we can wear whatever shirt we want instead of the store polo shirts (made of thick fabric). |
