We watched Good Omens 3 this past weekend. It's still a shame they made it a film and not a series, though I understand the reason. I'm grateful we got and ending.

We also finished Young Sherlock, which was good and entertaining. Very much on trend with using modern music for period drama/detective series.

I'm nearly done watching Harper's Island, only two or three more episodes.

How does Young Sherlock compare to the movie Young Sherlock Holmes?

I don't know. I've never seen Young Sherlock Holmes in full. I've seen maybe the first fifteen minutes of it. Some time in the mid 90s it was on TV. But the broadcast was stopped because an important person (iirc a former Israeli prime minister) died and they switched over to the news. I've always intended to watch it, but never gotten around to it. Now I have to see if I can get it somewhere (it's not on Dutch streaming services).

Last weekend I rewatched a comfort movie; The Silence of the Lambs, I just needed to watch something familiar and it was as good as always.

Last night I watched Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, which was a fun sequel. Elijah Wood obviously had fun with his role and I loved Sarah Michelle Gellar and Shawn Hatosy as siblings. For a sequel it was a good one.

Saturday my sister is out, including at dinner time. So I'll have another movie night. Not sure what to watch. I might see if the new The Mummy is already out on streaming somewhere. It seems horror is having a bit of a moment right now and there are some good ones. Although I admit I do love a crappy horror movie every once in a while.

Another movie night last night. I watched Lee Cronin's The Mummy, I liked the concept but I felt it was longer than needed and I started to lose interest at some point.

You'd be better off watching The Mummy (1999) with Brendan Fraser. All these remakes are meh! at best.

Totally agree about remakes. Which is why the preferred The Mummy is the 1932 original (and source of the Fraser version) with Boris Karloff.

Let's be consistent!

Can it be that today, the 2017's Mummy, might look good?

Quote:
Tom Cruise stars in the film. Sofia Boutella portrays Princess Ahmunet / The Mummy for the film, while Russell Crowe appears as Dr. Henry Jekyll / Mr. Hyde, two roles which had previously been portrayed by Boris Karloff in the studios' previous film franchise. It received negative reviews and is considered a box office bomb, scrapping the plans for the upcoming films of the Dark Universe.

Another reimagining of the film is due to release in 2026, directed by Lee Cronin.
Quote:
"The problem at its heart is that the reality of what the movie is—a Tom Cruise vehicle—is at war with the material. The actor, at 54, is still playing that old Cruise trope, the selfish cocky semi-scoundrel who has to grow up. ... The trouble is that Cruise, at least in a high-powered potboiler like this one, is so devoted to maintaining his image as a clear and wholesome hero that his flirtation with the dark side is almost entirely theoretical." Writing for Rolling Stone, Peter Travers gave the film one star out of four, saying: "How meh is The Mummy? Let me count the ways. For all the huffing and puffing and digital desperation from overworked computers, this reboot lands onscreen with a resounding thud."
I mean, in 2026 can it look splendid (because, the nowadays' times. LOL)?

How it looks is secondary to the fact that its rubbish. It's a second rate remake of Brenden Fraser's version.

...which is an inferior remake of the classic Boris Karloff film.

Watched the 4 seasons of Dark Winds - loved the books, hated what they did to the characters and plots in the show.

Rewatching season 1 of American Horror Story - holds up very well - Jessica Lange was (and still is) a virtuoso actor
