OSX - Calibre crashes immediately (After latest update)

I've been using Calibre for a long time now, but it is not something I open daily maybe less than weekly. Almost every time I use it the next version is out and I update it. After I updated to 9.9.0 last week however I can no longer use the application. It is crashing immediately upon opening. Some times I can see the small splash screen for a split second and other times I do not. I have deleted the app and reinstalled numerous times, as well as going back a couple versions which ran fine before but no longer does either. I ran the debug command in terminal which resulted in these logs.

As well here are the logs that automatically pop up when the app immediately crashes on launch.

I am in over my head here having no idea what else I need to do. I can't find any solutions so far on my own so I am hoping someone can bail me out.

Thank you!

I suggest trying safe book on MacOS and see if calibre runs.

From reading the link above I got information. I renamed my library folder and then Calibre began to work again. Between my last launch of it working and the first time it did not work I had begun to backup my library to my NAS which seems to have caused the problem. I have a QNAP NAS and used their native QSync OSX app to backup the folder to my server as I realized it was the one type of content I have that was solely on my MacBook and not backed up to my server.

So is there any way to automate backing up the ebooks to my NAS without it breaking Calibre? To be clear, the files are stored on my Macbook's internal drive and QSync was solely syncing them over to the NAS as a backup copy. Is there any way to achieve this type of automation without it breaking Calibre?

Can you set the sync to one way? Otherwise, a task which backs up to your NAS after calibre is closed or pausing sync before opening calibre and restarting sync after closing calibre would work. A two way sync while calibre is open can and does lead to "interesting" effects.

It is set to be a one way sync already. I suspect I need to find a different application or script to do it as the qnap qsync app is actively monitoring for changes so I guess that is where the issue is arising. I guess as Calibre is modifying files then qsync is immediately trying to send those changes to the NAS. I will have to see if I can find a setting to stop it from always syncing immediately and setting my own schedule, or else I will look at other options.

Use FreeFileSync. It's a great program for syncing.
