They've said during previous updates that the Companion Software only goes out once per day to look for new software. So if you start it in the morning before the update is posted on their site, it won't check again until tomorrow. It'll just keep telling you that nothing is available until the next day.

If you're in that boat and want to download it sooner, you can grab the files manually from their site and install them.

No sign of the pen bug, but then I never had it to begin with.

@Developers: How long does iRex usually take to release the SDK & source files after an update?

Better than 1.5. Big pdf is faster and pen operation is smoother!

But I got a problem: the light on top always show orange now - I am not charging!

Anyone else has this problem? Other than this no problem.

Just download the zip file, unzip it, and copy the files into the directories under the "System" folder on the reader.

It works really well! Pages do indeed flip much faster - though "please wait" is still displayed under some circumstances.
On sleep, one can draw with the pen, and all is recorded - very nice!
I could not get the pen bug. Usually the device would get stuck if I woke it up using the pen, and then drew while it was waking up.
And - no more led blinking while idle! very cool.

I haven't played with the digitizer, but I assume since they didn't mention anything in the changelog that nothing has changed. Too bad. That is one remaining IMPORTANT issue. Even more important than hybernate!

The problem I still have when reading a pdf file in continuous mode ( just to show bigger fonts ) is when I turn next page it shows to the right or to the left . Then I have to go back , wait some seconds and turn the page again .

Anyone get this issue ?

Very encouraging

My companion software never found the new software. I even tried to force it to grab it. They say copy system folder to root but there already is a system folder. I opened up my system folder and copied the files in the zip system folder to it. The pre/post updates were fast.

I opened up a 1100 page PDF and if I didn't no any better I would have said it must be only a dozen pages. It opened very fast. The page turns are also fast. I have a 100 page PDF notepad for taking notes. I like the thin lines but hated the delay it took to open the PDF. Now it is fast.

One bug seems to be fixed. While connected to power the right side capacitive buttons always got stuck and a light would stay on. Now it works fine. The bottom side button seems to require a bit more pressure but I can live with that non-problem.

I believe I waited long enough for it to go into sleep mode. Very nice improvement. Also the pen writing has almost zero delay.

I have only had the upgrade for a few minutes so other fixes or any new issues for me are yet to be seen. If what I have seen is any indication of what is in store then I say this appears to be an excellent upgrade.

When zoomed in on a page, scroll by using the pen and clicking with it on the next page number. This leaves you zoomed to the same part of the page, but on the next page. A bit annoying that you have to do it like this, but it works...

By "digitizer" I mean the problems that the DR has with getting a good calibration of the pen over the whole area of the page....

PressReader

PressReader definitely deserves another look. The pages can now be viewed like a pdf with a table of contents. If it had that feature before I didn't notice. The thing that I may still not like is if the downloads are just as slow as before. Would be nice if that also was faster.

Yes PressReader really is worth a try. It'd be really competitive to Amazon if downloading and conversion takes less time and be automated.

Yes, I see this issue as well - it's a bit annoying but doesn't really harm the functionality of the reader.

Does someone know how to create a problem ticket at iRex - so that they can fix it in one of the next FW releases?
