looks like Amazon has released a 5.18.1.1.1 firmware for 10th gen PW4 and K10 which may break dedrm.

10th gen Oasis 3 is still listed as 5.18.2, same as it has been.

edit....confirmed reports not found...the 5.18.1.1.1 does apparently affect adbreak at the moment for jailbreaking. not sure about dedrm. looking for more confirmations. but I don't have a K10 or PW4 so I can't test.

Are there reliable first-hand reports of 5.18.1.1.1 breaking dedrm? I could only find one second-hand report on Reddit, but it was a quick search.

the main thread I saw was about it currently not being jailbreakable via adbreak but that the underlying exploit may still be there. I've only seen one comment maybe about drm...so I'm not sure actually.

I just thought I'd share: K4PC version 2.4.0 (70904) with blocked updates no longer works for me. I get the "Your Kindle app needs an update" popup, even for books that I know I was able to download the last time I used it, which was 6/11/2024.

Yes, there are reports that Amazon is blocking downloads for all K4PC versions older than 2.9.1, and 2.9.1 will likely be blocked after June 30.

My K4PC 2.8 is no longer downloading my books, and requires an update to the new 1.0.16118 ms app store version. Having complied, my previous method of 'freeing' books no longer works. Is there any current workaround?

My workaround is not to buy any more books from Amazon, even though it means I cannot read some of my favourite author's books.

DRM is fine but not when it stops you reading on your favoured eReader.

Luckily, DeDRM Tools v10.0.23 works with the new MS Store Amazon Kindle App if you have Windows 11

I'm good. I have Windows 11 and the MS Store app and it's working to remove DRM.

With the new MS store app, where are books stored? I'm not seeing anything I downloaded in the My Kindle Content folder.

make sure you have the c++ redistributable installed

(if unsure, just install both)
you can also open the terminal or commandline first and then running the .exe from there, so the window doesnt automatically close

Installed both, still does not run.

go to the folder where you extracted the zip archive with all the exe files. right click anywhere and choose "open in terminal". start typing "msix" and hit tab to automatically fill in the complete file name, then hit enter.
alternatively, type cmd into the windows search and hit enter. cd into the extracted folder, type "msix" again, then tab and finally enter
