Hi

First post.
Today downloaded latest version of Calibre 9.9.0 and updated FanFicFare as version 4.58.0

Now I can't seem to get series off of Literotica.
I get this error

Also get similar issues and errors when trying to update current books.

Initial action was to copy all the library author to another folder.
Uninstall Calibre and FFF and reinstall.
Copied the original Autor files back to Calibre folder,


Alas still not downloading the series.

I have updated the Personal.ini with my Literotica sign in info.


Problem 2
Some of the Files I cannot open in Calibre as it says it has no available format although it is the original epub files.

Problem #1 was discussed a few posts above. Literotica changed their website several days ago and this broke FFF's ability to download any fics that are in series from Literotica.

If you download and install the latest test version of FFF, a fix has been introduced that should let you download series again from Literotica.

The only possible concern is that the fix was made using AI generated code and not written by JimmXinu (although they have, after discussion on github, incorporated this code into the latest test version of FFF).

Don't unzip a PI download.
Preference: Plugins: Load from file (a button): (the zipped file>

The changes posted as a trial fix in #1360 haven't been incorporated yet.

AH gives "HTTP Error in FFF '403 Client Error: Forbidden for url: https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/login'(403)" in Calibre 5.44. Happens even in a clean (portable) install so should be easy to reproduce, doesn't seem to occur in any other Calibre version.

No disrespect to akshayrangnekar. dbhmw has been the maintainer for adapter_literotica for several years and I didn't realize they were working on fixing this when I accepted that PR.

I've tried use_cloudscraper:true and setting user_agent without success. That's about all the effort I'm prepared to put into a client forbidden error specific to one site and a 4 year out-of-date Calibre version.

Since you've proven it doesn't happen in other Calibre versions, you clearly have other versions available.

Short version:

I suspect that fanficfares "pass calibre columns into FanficFare on update/overwrite" stopped working around version 4.57.0 of fanficfare. I don't need help, but thought informing you of my suspicions would be the right thing to do.

Way Too Long version:

A couple of years ago I got some help here to configure title and logpage to my liking. Worked perfectly. I've re-downloaded / overwritten most of the stories I had downloaded before making that work. Because I wanted to keep the information of when I had FIRST downloaded the story I added "calibre_std_timestamp" as an entry and gave it a label. My titlepage personal.ini looks like this:

titlepage_entries:publisher,rating,ao3categories,warnings,status,<hr />,fandoms_raw,series,ships_raw,characters_raw, freeformtags_raw,<br />,numWords,chapterstotal,datePublished,dateUpdated,calibre_std_timestamp,dateCreated,<hr />,description

The result is this for previously downloaded stories:

With no "originally packaged" entry for new stories. Perfect!

Recently the result has started to look more like this (for both new and old stories):

To me that looks a lot like the column not being interpreted right.

I have looked through all of my downloaded fics and the change occurs somewhere between 29th of April 2026 and 26th of May 2026. It is entirely possible that it is me, myself and I who have messed up but I actually don't believe it is (this tiime at least) -- I have compared with backed up older versions of my ini and I don't see any changes. The pass calibre columns option is checked. As far as I can tell I haven't changed anything but it stopped working.

I cannot be entirely sure that the change coincides with a fanficfare update because I don't save the FFF version anywhere (and that is about to change!!! But doesn't help me right now). (I do have a saved_metadata column but I am one of those idiots trying to normalize AO3 tags and regularly reload from saved metadata -- which I have just learned auto updates the FFF version (that is sensible -- I just didn't consider it before)).

Based on my dates and a hunt through this thread for information on when new versions have been released I believe the trouble maker might have been 4.57.0. I am currently running 4.58.0 and that one also has the problem.

Now. I have already re-downloaded the stories I wanted to and don't need it for new stories so I personally might very well just delete that entry from my titlepage. It works fine without it (I've checked) BUT since my main suspect is a plugin update I decided to write it here so it might be fixed (if I'm right that is). If I am completely off my rocker and it is indeed me and only me who F*cked Sh*t Up then I'd appreciate some help in figuring out how, so I can be Less Stupid next time.
