Maybe not all files were downloaded or for some other reason not everything was gathered up when you first added that book to calibre.

I copied the content (including games) off, and put it back, but lost the collections, which is a bummer, since the games had been in a collection. Guess I'll have to contact CS to get it removed from My Devices. |

People worry too much. Thread drift happens. Besides, the only person with any standing to ask for less off-topic discussion is the OP.
That sounds like way too much work for a thread that's probably going to die sooner rather than later anyway. |

So from my perspective, 5 years is short, given that the only advance I see worth having, is color and a larger screen. But even then, such a new device would be an addition and backup, not a replacement. That said, the Paperwhite kind of replaced the Keyboard Kindle due to the lighting situation improvement. Beyond that, would be storage size for graphic based ebooks, but as that means a 10" device anyway, not currently an issue, especially as my tablet supports a large SDcard. Further to all that, length of time usage, directly relates to overall cost of reading ebooks. So swapping to another newer device, means adding that purchase cost to the purchase cost of your ebooks. Which is not a big issue I guess, if you have many hundreds of ebooks or plenty of money to throw away. I expect to get 10 good years at least with my e-ink devices, and two out of three have passed that point already, and the third (Libra) is over halfway there. I have no intention of replacing or superseding the Paperwhite, and quite expect it will only become redundant if Amazon force it to be so, after which I'll just side-load all my prior Kindle purchases, which will be everything acquired prior to Amazon drawing a line in the sand on May 20. Not to mention, that there is enough old tech lying around in bins or rubbish dumps as it is. What a crazy stuffed up world we all live in. |

Agreed that my Libra 2 could last for a long while yet. The battery life of my Sage is dwindling, though (it was quite poor to begin with, as the Sage has poorly implemented power management and too small a battery for its processor and 8" screen) and it will certainly not last for another 5 years. Its battery is not really replaceable either, unless you have some real good skills with electronics (I don't).

I think the Sage battery is easily replaceable. It can be done without soldering, though soldering is best.

The only way I'm capable of replacing a battery is open the battery door, take the old battery out, put a new battery in, close the battery door. Anything more is above my skill level and will result in wrecking the device.

If Kobo release a modernised Forma equivalent, I may well go for it. I still get reasonable battery life on my Forma, but what is dodgy is the cable connection. Every so often I have to gently lever up the points, and it's a bit loose. It must be about 5 years old now...
While I'd like to go for an Ellipsa, the glass substrate makes it a bit heavy for me. The Forma plastic substrate was great. |
