Hi; please I would like to ask if is this plugin needed, and is it the only way to have a readable acsm file?
I've bought a comic from the Kobo store, to see how it would look onto a 13" gnu/linux tablet.
As reading it from the Kobo Viewer into the browser is not any good (looks like a scanned two-sheets' fit per page), I've tried to download it from the Kobo Forma, and connect it to Calibre, although I can't open the file in any way.
I would like to open it within a better and dedicated application.

The ACSM file is a token to download the actual content. It can either be processed by this plugin OR Adobe Digital Edition; either one will download the exact same content which will still be protected by Adobe's DRM.

The DRM can be removed by the DeDRM plugin

Your link to DeDRM is to an obsolete version. You want a newer version of DeDRM. get the autorelease version which has all of the latest code.

Alternately, you can try sats' updated version of DeDRM. It can be found on GitHub at DeDRM_tools. Click on Releases to see the newer releases.

I thought someone might benefit from this issue I solved with some ai help..

I ran into the libcrypto issue, and through some trial and error we (the claude llm and I) figured out it was the python plugin that was causing the library not to be found.

So applied this patch:

I could then install it, and downloaded a test acsm file from adobe no problem.

Kinda hard to tell what the patch is actually doing. If this actually fixes the code, have you thought about submitting a pull request to the plugin's GH repo?

The code just changes the version number check for the libcrypto library to allow for a multiple digit second part of the version number.

Actually in the author's GutHub repository, his forked version of the oscrypto module contains the fixed version check, as does the original author's repository and had for at least 3 years! This change though never made it into this plugin, which is using an older copy of the oscrypto module.

I am trying this on macOS Catalina. When I input Adobe credentials, I get:

ERROR: Unhandled exception: <b>TypeError</b>:Argument must be bytes or unicode, got 'NoneType'

It could be because calibre is using a newer version of Python in version 9.

And in fact, the plugin posted in the second post of this thread https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...70&postcount=2 (ACSMInput_0.0.16-bugfix.zip) CONTAINS the fix.
