I think it clarified some text in the WiFi settings about known networks.

The patches of the earlier firmware seem to work with this without any hiccups.

No, you still have to reinstall them just like before. They just work the same as they did on the older software.

I'll have a go at my usual test which is my patches. Then I'll see what other libnickel.so.1.0.0 patches are left to test.

Anecdotally (and it the absence of release notes for 4.38.23697) it feels to me as if my Libra 2, when used with the Kobo Remote, is not suffering from quite as bad a battery drain as it did with previous firmware.

I'd be interested to know if anybody else finds this.

It could be, analysing the .tar.gz there is a new firmware for the Bluetooth chip of the Libra 2.

One oddity on Patrick Gaskin's Kobo Firmware Download site, it still shows 4.38.23684 for the Touch A/B/C, Kobo Glo, Kobo Aura and Kobo Touch 2.0. Yet, other Kobo4 (i.e. Kobo Aura HD), Kobo5 (i.e. Kobo Aura H2O) and Kobo6 (i.e. Kobo Aura ONE) hardware devices show 4.38.23697 as being available. The Touch A/B Kobo3 devices do not appear to have a 4.38.23697 version available

I tried downloading the new firmware for the Kobo 3 devices and it's not happening. So maybe that's it for them.

xor_ has added two new patches.
  • Disable forwards/backwards swipes
  • Disable menu swipes
