I recommend that you wait and see what happens with the PC app. There is a real chance that its replacement, coming soon, will be usable instead.

There are a VERY limited number of models that currently work. And based on what Amazon did to some of the other models (using diagnostic code to piggyback new drm into it), that may not last long. Amazon could do the same to these models. (Right now, the Voyage and the 10th generation models are the only ones working easily. Some other models may work if jailbroken and other stuff done.)

The Kindle for PC method that is currently working may or may not change come the end of June when supposedly they are cutting if off in favor of a new app they will release through the microsoft app store.

In short...Amazon is really going all in on trying to lock down drm.

MTP is not correlated to DRM removal. In particular you can copy book and annotation storage just as with any Kindle.

I was able to remove DRM with both Scribe and Colorsoft, both are MTP, until updates removed this possibility. Same as those using USB Mass Storage.
