calilbre stuck opening this pdf
calibre 9.8, on win11, surface 13, snapdragon plus

all seems to work ok reading epub and other pdf's until attempting to open a pdf "A": "preparing book for first read". goes on and on. doesn't load.

Other pdf's are opening ok in calibre.

previously pdf "A" was being read in a external pdf viewer. I recently started using calibre to read pdf's.

If i uncheck pdf box in calibre, "A" opens in external viewer. recheck pdf box and "A" again won't open.

Is there a way to fix this issue of pdf "A" not opening in calibre?

Maybe, but for recalcitrant PDF's I'd make use of calibre's built-in Open with feature to use a pdf viewer:

thanks. I see the screen shot, but have no idea what is is showing/where it is located. I tried right clicking on the book cover, but don't see "open with" (which is where I would expect to see 'open with').

where is 'open with' located?

Or just very difficult to convert to EPUB. Remember that the Calibre viewer is an EPUB viewer and does an on the fly conversion if you open anything else with it.

The embedded text of the pdf is probably a mess e.g. each word is it own paragraph and/or each paragraph is it own html file. Yes I have seem this.

I know that it opens in external pdf viewer. But I guess it could be corrupt in some way.
