I can confirm personal documents work too. I can see all my cloud collections when I select Cloud and can tap on a personal document and it downloads. I have whole collections of personal document ebooks.

The kindles still access the Amazon servers, and can see everything in all the collections, so it was never about security it was simply about stopping us downloading AZW files.

Also if it was about security they could have just re-enabled azw3 downloads to pc and have them sideload. no need for device to connect.

Last night sometime between 11pm and 12am, I was able to download from Amazon. I'll try my Kindle Touch this evening and see if it still works.

Disabling support for the older Kindles appears to be a work in progress.

All of mine now show "Device no longer supported" in the "Deliver or remove from device" dialog of the "Digital Content" web page for all books and personal documents. But so far I can still download both purchases and personal documents by clicking on their covers in the device's library listing.

Clearly that is going to change, but will the end result still allow personal documents or was that a mistake on Amazon's part?

I can’t download purchases on mine, just personal documents. I’m in the UK and tried this morning.

It definitely is a work in progress. My devices aren’t greyed out so I sent a purchase to my device. It didn’t arrive, I got the message instead. Yet I can still send books to it. I really don’t know if Amazon know what they are doing.

Mine are grayed out with "no longer supported" when I try to Deliver to Device. Can still download to Touch from within device though. Added a couple of audiobooks to it as well.

I just went to Anazon and was able to select a book to download. I received no message that I was able to select my Kindle Touch. SO for now, I think I am good. But I think sometime this weekend, that will most likely stop.

But I do have the K4PC method to download and remove DRM until that stops working.

My PW 5th Gen (AKA PW1) is also still working this morning. I purchased a book and it synced and then downloaded. Perhaps the starting on May 20th hasn't started yet.
