Does anyone have syncthing or filebrowser+ working on pw1 or similar age?

I have both filebrowserplus and syncthing running fine on my pw4 but they refuse to work on my pw1. I don't know if it's memory or the binary is returning something strange to the plugin because for syncthing I had to go download v1.22 from syncthing's site for arm so it had a version using go 1.20. It runs fine from ssh but trying to start the server just takes the "Syncthing could not be started" branch of the code.

I'm looking for old packages known to work on the kindle paperwhite (5th gen) or anything of similar age. From KUAL or koreader. Heck a script I could run would be fine to.

I was able to get both syncthing and filebrowserplus packages working. As indicated I had to go back to v1.2.2 binary and on filebrowserplus I had to go back to v2.19.0. On syncthing I had to modify the main.lua to adjust for settings drift like going from single hyphens to double hyphens. Turns out this could have been done much more cleanly by adjusting the start-syncthing script they use but for whatever reason that script was NOT included with my package at the time I began trying to get this. I assume it gets populated when the fetch syncthing binary succeeds which I ended up having to do manually. In any case if you search in issues on syncthing and filebrowserplus you should find instructions/binary. For syncthing I provided the whole modded plugin. With the age of that syncthing binary it requires any other devices it connect to, to ALSO be running v1.2.2 due to changes in TLS and other protocols.

This is all caused by the old kernel version on the PW1 and the go toolchain v1.2.0. Starting with go toolchain 1.2.1 they required a significantly newer version of the kernel and features the pw1 just doesn't have implemented in go.

Oh as alternatives the jellyfin plugin allows for download of ebooks from your media server and I think upload. Some of the progress sync alternatives like varbook also provide download of ebooks. Wireless calibre works very well but you have to initiate the send from the pc side.

Your script sounds interesting and would possibly be much better for multiple users as each user could have their own folder on the web server or subfolder of the same folder then assign the folder name on the device side. http://someserverort with subfolder of Jan, Jimmy, Sally or by Genre, Science_Fiction, Fantasy, Romance. This would ensure you were downloading specifically what you were in the mood for. I'd also put a count or filesize cutoff because for example my PW1 has 120mb of free space remaining. If it tries to grab all the books on a webpage it's gonna fill up and the script is going to crash.

Also many of us use fanficfare. If the download exists you should check the md5sum or as a fallback the filename to determine if it has changed. If it has it should replace the existing download as when fanficfare adds chapters from sites like royalroad.com the md5/filesize changes each time. It does not always INCREASE in filesize as sometimes the author stubs the story (removes a bunch of early chapters) due to requirements such as placing book one in kindle unlimited while currently on book 2 or 3 in the story.
