Coloursoft Clippings

HI

I am interested to buy a Kindle Coloursoft. I am curious about how it handles the filing of highlights and annotations and I assume it still uses the clippings.txt file. This file is my main tool for collecting and re-using snippets I noted in my reading.

Colour can be a useful way to differentiate different kinds of highlight while reading and I am curious to know if the colour of a highlight is recorded in the clippings.txt file.

Of course, that's just a text file so it has no colour itself but maybe Kindle uses a text label ('red', 'blue', etc.) to indicate what colour was used for that highlight? Or something similar?

I am curious to know as it could clinch my decision to buy a Coloursoft.

Do let me know. Thanks.

No Highlight attributes (Color or Style) are recorded in My Clippings.

Thanks for that reply. I googled the issue a short while ago and and learned that (i) as you say, no tagging of clippings.txt but (ii) if you are reading an amazon book then you can use the export features to send yourself an HTML version of the highlights which include colour. I mostly do not read amazon books and so these specific Kindle features are not available for converted epubs ... Pity ... so, sticking with what I have got for now (shame, coloursoft on a good deal at the moment). Will look at a Kobo perhaps.

Thanks again.

They are actually available in the iOS and Mac app which allows you to generate html summaries of your “personal document” files in the Kindle cloud.
