Annotations seem completely broken

Previously, the My Clippings.txt file worked very well for me. Exporting to the computer wasn't a problem, especially with an USB cable: I would copy highlights and annotations directly from the txt file, or use the Kindle Mate if I needed a bit more organization.

But, since a few updates ago, the highlights appear incomplete and the annotations are multiplied, as if each word I type were an isolated annotation. They appear correctly when I open each ebook's notebook in the Kindle (the mbp file) – but that isn't exportable anywhere.

Whether I agree or not, I guess Amazon is entitled to make the case that they're allowed their digital gates like DRM for the products they push, but I don't think they can make the same case for my very own annotations.

It seems like the Kindle's enshittification process is working at full steam and that my future is filled with bright words such as "jailbreak" and "I will never buy a Kindle again".

MyClippings.txt has never been a reliable or official source of annotations. It's a scratchpad for the Kindle to put input into. The Kindle OS is using it for more things now, which interferes with the old assumptions by importer programs that assume it's just annotations and notes. This has nothing to do with DRM or Amazon blocking access.

My comment about the DRM was a simple analogy to say Amazon shouldn't make it so hard for an user to access his own notes.

Before, I could work with what was in MyClippings. Now I can't. The highlights come incomplete and, if I write "this is an annotation", I get at least 4 different items:
this
this is
this is an
this is an annotation

This could be of smaller importance if I could somehow access and export annotations and highlights in personal documents in some other way, like directly from the mbp file in each personal document. Do you know such a method?

As Frogm4n wrote, the blame for misuse of the "My Clippings" doesn't completely or even mostly fall on amazon.
