Yesterday I bought a book on Amazon published in August 2025. I tried to open it on my Kindle for PC in Windows but I was forced to update to Kindle for PC 2.8 version as previous Kindle 2.4 version was not allowing for the download.
Then I dragged and dropped the .azw file in Calibre and it gave me a the encrypted unusable KFX-ZIP. All these years, I would have got an epub or any other format if the DeDRM plugin used to succeed. I even removed DRMs succesfully for other books from Amazon that I bought When I dragged and dropped the kfx file of the book from my PW device in calibre, it was able to remove the drm but I got a black and white KFX version of the book that I was able to convert to epub also successfully . Wanting to get the DRM free coloured version of the book, I then installed K4A 4.17.0.146 in windows subsystem for android on my Windows 11. But it didn't allow the download for the book. In the latest Kindle for Android, I could only get multiple KFX files but no prc file in the program files folder of Kindle. All those kfx files didn't result in any readable document while attempting to open them in calibre. I searched for map_data_storage.db file but I couldn't find anywhere. Can anyone suggest what should I do now? |

Frida is needed to attach to the process and inject the javascript into it. Python script on host connects to it. Recent tests show that this approach does not work on device due to antitamper, but does work on some emulators due to, I believe, arm-x86 translation layer which confuses the antitamper. I do not know if Waydroid would work. If it does not, try the executable approach (still needs Frida to dump your DSN/secret). Read the top of the file(s) for brief outline, ask for detailed explanations on github or PM here, not in public forums.
