Yes, I know nothing, just while searching info related to this thread I see there is a closing for the app on Andoid based e-readers and Android devices, thought that closing was like "august 2025"?
Pardon but I never used it, althought I would like to ask if, in the eventually possibility I buy a (e.g.) a Pocketbook Color Note, or a Pocketbook Inkpad 3 (based on Android), that application won't work?
Thanks..

Edit, by reading the other topic on Amazon section, I might guess that Google Play Amazon app won't work.

Could it be a firmware issue and not a hardware issue? Have you tried a stylus (same type as used for an iPhone/iPad)?

It doesn't respond to pressure, just proximity of fingertip. Sometimes fingertips are too dry or cold and are not detected as easily. You might experiment with a capacitative stylus to see if it is more consistent. There are also gloves with capacitative areas in fingertip sso you can operate touch screens when wearing them.

I don't have issues myself. If anything it is too sensitive to touch.

The Amazon Appstore no longer works on non-Amazon devices. That's what happened in Aug 2025. Pocketbook's Android-based ereaders use Google Play as their app store. Kindle for Android is available from there.

Thanks, I just trying to understand, in case to know what I may expect if buying a non Kindle e-reader within Android.
"Internet" says it's possible to use it but it's just a little harsher, e.g. to buy a book the customer is redirect to Google Play's payments,
[2025]
Quote:
This could be bypassed by companies enabling in-app purchases to be done though their own payment service rather than Android’s Google Pay. But since March, Google has been preventing apps that don’t use its payment platform from being able to issue updates.
[...]
As such, it looks like Amazon is getting in early to remove non-Google Pay payments from the Kindle app. But rather than surrender 30% of the Kindle app purchases, Amazon now directs users to its website in order to buy books that can then be downloaded to the Kindle app. This is the same reason why Amazon recently removed the purchase of Audible audiobooks through its Android app.

Such moves aren’t surprising as the same happened to the Kindle app on iOS, as Apple had inflicted ‘tax’ on companies' digital goods purchased through apps on its App Store, which also saw Amazon remove the purchase of Kindle books via its on iOS app back in 2011.
So, it requires to open like a browser and buy it from it (?)..
(*I don't want to test your patience, just I'd like to know clearly what I might have to excpect while buying that sided-option)

Bingo! (Also sometimes a combination of too dry and cold.)

For me, both are an even worse experience.

That used to be the experience. I had Kindle for Android on a Pixel phone and tablet. And I wasn't able to use the built-in storefront in Kindle for Android to buy the Kindle books. I had to use the Kindle Store app or a web browser to buy the kindle books. That was when Google Play did not allow alternative billing systems. Now Android developers are allowed to offer alternative billing systems (in several countries) and I can once again use the Kindle storefront built into the Kindle for Android app to buy books.

These are the countries currently listed where apps installed from Google's Play store can offer alternative billing (like Amazon):

European Economic Area (EEA) countries
Australia
Brazil
India
Indonesia
Japan
South Africa
South Korea
United States
United Kingdom

Ah, I understand the confusion now. I forget about actually using the app to buy books because I never do that. I always shop on the website with a computer or phone and just use apps/devices to download and read.

Thanks, knowing that's possible to do that seems fine already, I was to think it would had needed to buy the books from the e-reader's browser, if using the Google Play Kindle app, but if it's possible to buy them from the pc, and then just download from an Android device within the Kindle app, for my - eventually - needs is already fine.
Thanks again.
@DiapDealer: thanks also for the explanation.

Thanks again.
To simplify even more, if your Android app is your main reader for Kindle content, you should be able to set it as the default device under Devices on the Amazon web page.

I've had issues with touch not always registering on my Oasis 2. Turns out there is something weird about the hardware or software where a "normal" tap on other devices is too long for it. A quick tap almost always works. A tap that lingers at all might or might not work. I know I read it in a thread here but I don't recall which one.
