Now are you able to drag and drop from file explorer to add books into calibre? In the past this was an issue caused by running it as admin:

I thought this could be due to stuck calibre processes still running and causing permission issues on Windows, but the OP is running version 9.6 which has fixed this issue for me.

It shouldn't be necessary to run calibre as adminsitrator. Probably what happened is that you ran it as administrator before and it created some files that you now can't edit as non-administrator.

You should quit calibre, and as administrator, give your user permission to all the files in the calibre directories, and then see if it works as your regular user.

First of all: bless you for this plugin. It has improved my cover game immensely.

I have a question about a possible feature. I mainly use Cover Generator for
AO3 fics and often end up with author names that include multiple pseuds: author_pseud (secondary_authorpseud).

You can edit the author name in the plugin if you're generating covers one at a time, but you can't edit the metadata for batch generation. Is there any way to add that capability?

Yeah, it's just a pain to turn the author fields off and on. But the bigger issue is that I'm already using the custom text field in most of my templates.

EDIT: Give the attached version a whirl. I will give it a few days for the translations to potentially get updated before releasing it assuming all is well.

That works! Now I have to regenerate all the covers a second time

Strangely, when I first load a profile, everything defualts to black fill. Then I uncheck "same colour" and recheck and it reverts.

Question: Is there a way to run a specific profile without popping a dialog? For use in Action Chains, mostly.
