Bea Wolf by Zach Weinersmith and Boulet is $3 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
Quote:
A modern middle-grade graphic novel retelling of Beowulf, featuring a gang of troublemaking kids who must defend their tree house from a fun-hating adult who can instantly turn children into grown-ups.

Listen! Hear a tale of mallow-munchers and warriors who answer candy’s clarion call!

Somewhere in a generic suburb stands Treeheart, a kid-forged sanctuary where generations of tireless tykes have spent their youths making merry, spilling soda, and staving off the shadow of adulthood. One day, these brave warriors find their fun cut short by their nefarious neighbor Grindle, who can no longer tolerate the sounds of mirth seeping into his joyless adult life.

As the guardian of gloom lays siege to Treeheart, scores of kids suddenly find themselves transformed into pimply teenagers and sullen adults! The survivors of the onslaught cry out for a savior—a warrior whose will is unbreakable and whose appetite for mischief is unbounded.

They call for Bea Wolf.

I've got the hardback version of this and it's fantastic. But I'm not sure how well it would work on a Kindle.

It's images, like most comic books, except the copyright page, which has HTML text superimposed over an image of a blank page with publisher logos.

I opened that page in a browser and saved the image, so now I have a fully image-based CBR.

I worded that badly. I meant work as in be enjoyably readable as a graphic novel, rather than just technically working.

For my purposes, and at $3, I'm not complaining. I read it on tablet with a large screen for personal use. There are only about 3 double page spreads.

If you're reading to a child, a physical book will be better.

for me, reading digitl comics on my 13" Pixel Slate is great. I don't think I'd read them on a traditional e-ink reader.

I've opened it into the Forma, which is 8", and as Bea Wolf is written in a kinda "manga" format, it seems well legible/readable.
Thanks for the factoring advisory !

Amazon doesn't want me to buy it, saying I don't have a supported device (mostly eInk Kindles). In a chat with customer service chatbot to find out why Kindle for Web isn't an option (book description says it is). it's been "composing a response" for 5 minutes now. I expect a full AI novel.

Maybe you can prompt-jack it into regurgitating the entire graphic novel for you.

I would, but while it's "thinking," my text entry field has vanished, and can't prompt it with anything. If Amazon melts down when its data center goes "Nomad from Star Trek," you know who to blame.
