Error communicating with device. Kindle 11!

Hello!

I keep getting this message whenever I try to send books to my Kindle 11 with Calibre. Can you help? Here's the details that it says. I've been using Calibre with this Kindle for months now, no issues before this one. Also should mention I'm on a Mac running Sequoia, just in case. I have tried rebooting both devices, redownloading calibre from scratch... No luck so far. Everything working okay except this issue. Thank you!

calibre, version 9.8.0

Is this the Kindle Paperwhite with a 6.8" screen? There is no Kindle called Kindle 11.

It is a basic Kindle. 11th gen I believe from 2024. The matcha green one. It's working completely fine and showing up for me when I connect it to send my kindle app for example. Just Calibre is not working anymore....

Update: I connected my Kindle to Calibre on another older MacBook and it worked fine, just like how it used to and should. Only on my main Mac mini that it's not working anymore. It shows up as a device but I get the error when transferring of looking at books on the device. I'm sure I haven't changed any settings, on either device. Puzzling me a lot what could be doing this. Still works on my older MacBook. I tried going on Settings > Privacy & Security > Files & Folders, but Calibre isn't even showing up there for me so don't think theres any restriction?

Do you have another media device already connected?
MACs only support 1 at a time

When you plug your Kindle into your Mac Mini, check to see if any other software is accessing your Kindle. On a Mac, you can only access your Kindle (MTP device) one at a time. So only some program can access your Kindle. Something else could be accessing it before calibre.

Hello! I just checked that. Doesn't seem like anything else could be accessing it first, even deleted the Send to Kindle App. And I don't seem to have anything at all connected to the computer besides the Kindle. Double checked it. Anyways, I ended up downloading an older version of Calibre (7.26) and that did the trick. It recognized the device again. Funny because I had already tried deleting Calibre and reinstalling. But only seems to have made a difference now that I went back to an older version of it. Im a little puzzled about it. Thank you very much for your reply and to the other user as well here who replied.

I have something for you to try. Try installing the latest version of calibre. Then rename the configuration directory. After that, run calibre and see if it sees your Kindle. If it does, eject the Kindle, delete the current config directory, rename the original config directory back to the correct name and try your Kindle again. If it doesn't work, try to run calibre without plugins active.

To run calibre with third-party plugins disables, run calibre and on the preferences icon, right click and find the option.
