What to set so that my reader NEVER tries to update

Some time, long, long ago I read about how to set up my kobo so that it will never try to automatically update or sync itself if it connects to WIFI. It had something to do with one of the entries like "LastUpdateCheckTime=@Variant(\0\0\0\x10\0%\x94h\x 3!>i\x2)". If I remember correctly it was done by setting the "@Variant" field to a time a few years in the future. Does anyone remember or know how to set this kind of thing and maybe which of these items it is safe to set? I'd like to just set the times to liek 20 years from now.

You may want to take a look at the Firmware 4.26.16704 thread. It shows a sample string for setting the LastAffiliateSync time to November, 2031 and some discussion of what the string after @Variant= means. Though a quick look at your conf file fragment suggests that you have already used that string.

I’m not sure about the @Variant field, but if you just want to disable automatic syncing, simply deleting the LastSyncTime= entry works fine.

Just turn off WiFi and syncing in settings.
