Force Calibre to Stop Job

I just got a TCL 60 Xe Nxtpaper phone, and I wanted to put some books on it to try the ereader mode that it has. I plugged it in, opened Calibre, and it asked me if I wanted Calibre to manage it (or something like that). I said yes, and it showed up as a device. I tried sending a book over, but it wouldn't finish the job because under "Get list of books on device", the "Object Found" was a file in my download folder. I deleted all of the files in that folder, and it added the book. I was than able to manage the device and pick the specific folder that I wanted to use on my phone. I tried adding another book, and it's failing again, because now it's picking Alice In Wonderland, which gets added when you install Moon+ Reader Pro.

All I want to know is, how do I force Calibre from trying to complete the job, so when I plug my phone in again, Calibre doesn't automatically lock up? I want to cancel this job completely. I thought plugging in a different ereader would satisfy Calibre. At first I thought it did, because the job ran and appeared to complete, but as soon as I plugged my phone in, it went back to not being able to complete the job.

Thanks

Right click on the device icon and tell calibre to ignore the device. And no you cannot force stop a device transfer job as that can in general lead to device corruption.

Thanks, but doesn't that mean I can never use that device again? If I tell Calibre to not ignore it anymore, will it just try to run that job again?

I wanted to edit my comment, but I can't because a moderator has to approve it before it's published.

Anyway, I plugged the device in and right clicked on the icon. There was no ignore option. Ejecting the device doesn't work, and I can't configure the device while a job, that I can't stop, is running.

So I thought I would be clever and download another portable copy of Calibre. I figured that, since it's a portable copy, all of the settings would be clean. How wrong I was. After setting up the brand new portable version, I plugged in my phone. It asked me if I wanted Calibre to manage it, and I said yes, It immediately started trying to upload that book. The good news is that now it's trying to select a different folder and file from the last time.

As far as I can tell, I can never use Calibre with this phone, on this computer, ever again. All because I can't tell Calibre to quit a job.

Unfortunately this is a moot point, as ignoring the device doesn't seem to even be an option as long as Calibre tries to complete a job that it will never finish.

So disconnect the device; start calibre; do the disable and reattach the device

You asked if you disabled a device, could you use it again.
not how to stop a connection in progress.
I stand by my answer (I also use it that way for a phone I normally do not read on).

In the end I restored that phone to factory settings. Not because of Calibre, but for other reasons. It's brand new, so nothing is lost except a little time.

Anyway. The first thing I installed on it was Moon+ Reader Pro. I plugged it in, opened Calibre, and let it manage it. I right clicked on the phones icon and selected "Configure this device". Then I clicked "Change scanned folders" and unchecked everything except "Books". Then I clicked OK, clicked OK again and restarted Calibre. I'm able to, at least for now, send books to the phone without any problems. Fingers crossed

Everything was going great until I put a micro SD card in my phone. Now when I open Calibre, it's back to automatically starting a job that it will never finish.

I tried replacing the SD card with another one, just to see, and Calibre finished the job. I was then able to configure the device again, and this time I configured the card and unchecked every box. I put the original card back in, and Calibre automatically started a job it wouldn't finish. I ejected the card, and plugged my phone it. It works no problem.

Calibre scans any NEW device storage for books. Phones and Tablets now have huge SD cards that will take quite a while if there is very much on them. This will happen again if you delete either of the 2 files Calibre puts in the root of that drive upon scan completion. This can take HOURS if there are lots of photos or audio

It's not scanning. It's just stopped at some particular random file in some particular random folder.

For the record, the folder Calibre usually gets hung up on isn't on the SD card. It's the hidden ".MoonReader" folder in the "Books" folder on the phones internal storage. If I remove everything from that folder, it will then get hung up on an epub in the "Books" folder.

The only thing that the SD card is doing is confusing Calibre.
