Exclamation Adding to the library needs warnings

for awhile I've only been using Calibre for FanFicFare but I decided to expand my usage of it and went to add all the epubs in my download folder but unlike previous library softwares I've used in the distant past it deleted the files from where they were moving them to a new folder
also instead of just adding the Epub files it added a whole lot of other file types I wasn't expecting as well causing a whole lot of files to now become useless because they're no longer in the subfolders whose folder names contained information on what those files were such as a number of game save files that were saved as txt files

Calibre has several ways of adding books. Manually - from folders, archives, the clipboard, and directly from the command line. They can also be added from an 'autoadd' (watched) folder. Which one did you use?

And which platform Windows, MacOS, or Linux?

Adding from folders and subfolders absolutely does not touch your original files. It creates copies.
