Sideloading Books to an Unregistered 11th Gen Kindle which has MTP

I have a bit of a tricky situation. I want to lend a kindle to a friend that is terminally ill. I have ten books she wants to read. I have deregistred my 11th Gen kinde which is connected via MTP. I have deregistered my kindle just in case anything happens to her while she has it, morbid i know. i'm not worried about the kindle i just don't want someone being able to get to my books.

Anyway, the books transfered by calibre don't appear on the kindle, they are showing in the hard drive but not on the device. I have sent both ASW3 and MOBI.

I have googled the issue and I can't find an answer. can anyone help?

Yes. And this time they have appeared. Must have been a glitch before. I let calibre decide what format to send and it sent AZW3. I don’t like the way holding fonts is locked out but at least on this model there is a bold font called Ember which is readable.

Unfortunately Ember is not a good font for using as the main font.

If you know how to embed with calibre, you can embed the fonts you want and then subset to remove the characters not used. If the entire font style is not used, it will be removed. All you have to do is do it once by hand and then you can copy the code and save it as a clip. Then you just have to add the code to the CSS and add the fonts, subset and done.

Font bolding should be available with AZW3. If it's not, that means the format is MOBI.

Note that AZW3 is not the same as AZW. The latter is usually just MOBI.

Thank you, but at the moment I don’t know how to embed fonts, it’s something I need to look at.
