Yes indeed, that was what I wanted. I have now in the menu an option to enable bluetooth and a separate one to disable it. What a wonderful tool this nickelmenu!

I have used Nickelmenu also to add bluetooth on/off shortcuts. But they're just simply nickel_bluetooth:enable and nickel_bluetooth:disable.
Why is the example here chaining to include wifi? Is that really necessary to keep wifi fully off? When using just the bluetooth commands, the wifi icon already always stays off.

With some Kobo, turning on BT also turns on WiFi. So this makes sure that BT is on and Wifi is off. WiFi on takes more battery.

On some Kobos, enabling the wireless chip enables both WiFi and Bluetooth. So you enable the chip to turn both on and then turn WiFi off to minimize power use.

I thought I had this firmware already, but it turns out that 23648 and 23684 are two different numbers, even though they contain the same digits.

Yeah it's confusing, but officially the 23648 was only released for the Libra 2, and I guess it's revoked because I can't see on Patrick's website anymore.

That's because it was replaced with 4.38.23684. That's the version most older Kobo can get now.

The 4.38.23648 firmware for the Libra 2 is still available from https://ereaderfiles.kobo.com/firmwares/kobo9/Mar2026/kobo-update-4.38.23648.zip.

One acquaintance of mine downgraded his Libra 2 from 4.38.23684 to 4.38.23648 since he was convinced the reading performance was better on 23648 but then after testing, he reverted to 23684 since he found no difference in speed between the two.
