Can I disable PDF metadata embedding when sending books to my Android device?
Hello Kovidgoyal,
First of all, thank you for this amazing piece of software. I'm writing to you because I'm having a specific issue when sending PDF files from Calibre to my Android-based E-Ink device (Onyx Boox Go 10.3). The transfer of some PDFs is extremely slow. When I run Calibre in debug mode, I see that the program is spending a lot of time trying to embed metadata into the PDF file, and the log shows the following recurring error: "Failed to set metadata for the PDF format of..." I understand that some of my PDF files might not be perfectly structured internally, and that might be causing the problem. I am not concerned about having perfect metadata on my device—I am perfectly happy if the file is copied as-is. Therefore, my question is: is there any way to configure Calibre so that when sending a PDF to a device, it simply copies the original file without attempting to modify or embed any metadata into it? A simple "send file as is" option would be ideal. Thank you for your help and for your continued work on Calibre. I appreciate it very much. Sincerely yours, Evgeny |
