Dealing with Kindle ebooks in calibre - Page 100

Well not totally shocked a little bummed by the June 30 news. I do run windows 11 will see what this does to me. I have checked Kobo and no thank you they do not come close to having the books from the authors that I read and buy all the time. The only other one I use a lot is book funnel but that is author dedicated. Still sadly I will be spending the $89 dollars for the new kindle so I can continue to read the books I want to after June and I will see what happens come June 30. I right now am using k4pc in my windows 11 as well as my old kindle keyboard.

I would just give up on those authors you read who only publish at Amazon. By continuing to buy from Amazon, you feed into their ecosystem which is not a good thing to do.

If you have a contact for those authors, then it's also worth writing to them explaining that Amazon's policies are costing them sales because you are unable to access your purchased content on the device of your choice.

Even on Windows 11 they need to allow time for (probably millions of) people to migrate over to the new app before they disable downloads.

I think even registering the K4PC app should be allowed provided you have installer for it (the download link for the installer will probably go away).

But we'll see.

We do have a little over 2 months warning. I'm actually surprised they decided to continue having a Windows app. I guess they feel they can keep that one locked down.

While KePubs do have changed html markup, ADE ePubs do not.

ePubs with Adept DRM (Adobe's DRM) do get changed. You get something like this added to every HTML.

But depending on your settings for DeDRM, you may never see that meta content line as DeDRM can be set to auto-strip it out. It's part of the Remove watermarks option.

However, that is probably not a significant change. As I have shown, Adobe ADEPT's changes to OPF and XHTML are more extensive and irreversible.
