There are other ereaders, but they all have drawbacks just like Kindle and Kobos. However, it's worth doing a little research. You may find something outside of K & K that will suit your needs.

Yes, I think so too. They had a Windows store app back in the day, but they dropped it and continued with desktop Kindle for PC only. Barnes and Noble went the other way dropping their desktop app in favor of a Windows store app. Now B&N doesn't have either -- just mobile apps.

Even if you could, that would probably be a very temporary fix anyway. I imagine all Kindles that are still getting downloads will have this change to the KFX DRM sooner or later.

Get any remaining Kindle books freed. Start buying books elsewhere, DeDRM them if needed, convert, and sideload to your Kindle. Then you can switch to another ereader when you decide.

They can't because then no one will be able to download their send to kindle docs. It's the only way to get your documents. Unless they bring back download and transfer - or email to your account (they did that for a bit) - which I hope they don't because the K4PC is useful for their kindlesyncmetadatacache.xml files and their kindle collection db so I can import that into Calibre

When they sunset Kindle for Mac in favor of the Apple Store Kindle app, they disabled Kindle for Mac entirely. K4Mac is completely dead, you can't download or read anything.

I presume you will be able to get your Send-to-Kindle docs and entire Kindle library on the the new Windows Store Kindle app, which is what's replacing Kindle for PC desktop app.

I've been very glad I got out when they started blocking downloads for 'Transnfer via USB' a year ago.

With price-matching (not available everywhere) buying from Kobo has actually been cheaper, and I get nice ePubs.

Being able to get your send to kindle docs with Kindle for PC is relatively new. For a long time it was just Kindles and mobile apps. I imagine the Windows store app will have it though.

Yeah, that was relatively new.

I am not happy that I learned they WILL be discontinuing K4PC the way it is now on June 29th. It will ONLY be available through the MS App Store for WINDOWS 11.

I have Widows 10 and am not interested in updating at this point.
