Hand comfort
Hello group!
I am looking for some thoughts on a new eReader. I have had 2 Kobo Libras, the original and now I am using the H2O. I do love the libra because I find it the most comfortable to hold for long periods. I have a lot of pain in my hands so weight and comfort are my main priorities. My H2O is still working, but I have noticed a drop in the battery and twice when it died I had to mess around for hours to get it to charge enough to turn on or do anything. I would also prefer something that could access my Google Docs so I can more easily upload books instead of connecting to my computer. Bonus if there is a way I can sync my place for non Kobo books (I read a lot of fanfiction) to my phone for times when I don't have my reader. I don't really care about colour, but I admit it would be nice to see the covers in colour, but it isn't a deal breaker. I prefer to stay away from Kindle as I usually keep my readers for a very long time (my son still uses my old Clara and my very old mini finally stopped working) and I don't want to be forced to upgrade if I don't need to. I also don't want ads. I am open to a Android based reader, as long as it is e-ink and not a screen like a tablet or phone. I have done some research and it so far is between the PocketBook Era Colour or the Kobo Libra Colour. I am open to other suggestions if anybody has pain in their hands and finds a particular device easy to hold for longer periods. If the Libra Colour had the exact same body as my H2O I would just get that. But it seems like the angle on the side where you hold is mostly gone, just at the very edge where the buttons are. I love the way my H20 feels when holding it so I am not sure how I will feel about this change. Any other readers that have a similar style? I plan to go to the city so I can hold it in my hand, but unless I can hold it for 20 minutes or longer, I am not sure if I will really know so hopefully others can chime in.

One friend of mine has the Kobo Libra Colour. His current setup at home is to use the Libra Colour in a holder using the Kobo Remote to turn pages. When he takes the train into the city, he holds the KLC in his hand using the buttons to turn pages. When he is not using it, the KLC lives in a sleeve to help protect it but he reads without any cover to reduce the weight.

The other day when I was having dinner, I used the origami case (with my Libra 2) as a stand to read while I was eating. It worked pretty well.

What they are using was a freebie similar to this one on Amazon. It was a bit of swag at a conference a couple of years back picked up from an OverDrive table at conference a couple of years back.

I have that kind of case on my Kobo H2O and it did work when I have someplace to set it, but I do like to hold it for some reason. I haven't looked at cases yet, I was wondering if they had them for the colour, I'll have to check. Thanks!

There are people on MobileRead who for various reasons use the ones with a stand. Depends on your physical state, which one works best for you.

I'm perfectly satisfied with the two-part clip-on page turner for my ancient devices. Which I mention just to note there are options. And cheaper, too.
