I'm working on an update that updates alaot of behind the curtain things. Also redoing how it connects to project gutenberg to comply with their requirements.
PLEASE TEST IT! Let me know what doesn't work, what just looks awkward or ugly, or any thing else.
I'm hoping to have the new release tonight or tomorrow night. Then maybe a real launch.
Thank you!

Much obliged for your patience and diligence, setherd!

I'll be looking for it, so do keep me posted.

Gratefully,

uploaing 21 (1.3.6) this should be much faster for large libraries by only loading a hundred books at a time. For andorid I'm relasing this on the closed testing track so it will count towards the 2 weeks of testing neeed (plus I need more testers!) before launching.
Let me know what is broken or could be changed.

This a closed test, which means I think you will get an email from Google asking if you want to be part of the test.

I've not received any messages from Google about the new version.

If you'd like me to test it, do please send me a PM with a link for it.

Thanks in advance,

Tracis, It sems like it is just updating like any app.
This new version should run better on large libraries

I've been testing the version v1.3.6 and the problem for me remains the same: the non-persistence of the Calibre DB.

Since there is no local copy of the library database, each time I try to use it it will attempt to sync up.

I therefore cannot attest to any of the searching or filtering functions for the ebooks, wether they are downloaded or not.

If there is a wireless connection planned, I may then be able to make a proper assessment of this app library functions.

I have updated to the newest version. The sync time has improved greatly - on my ~22,000 book library the time went from 9 minutes to 3 minutes.

The time factor is still an issue. I open the app 3 minutes to sync, then i do a search 3 more minutes to get results. If set my phone down to wait and the screen goes to sleep, 3 more min to resync and yet another 3 minutes to search again.

I did manage an author search that I confirmed pulled all books for the author. I also did a genre search - I have a hierarchical genre and when I searched mystery it pulled all books for mysteries with any subgenre which is what I was expecting.

I think I agree with Incanus, if a wireless connection is planned, it may be more practical for those with large libraries.

Tracis, are yousaying if the screen locks it reconnects and starts syncing over again? I thought I had it just syncing changes. I'll look into it more.

Edit: Can you tell me the file size of your metadata.db. And is this through Calibre Content server or something else?

it should not download a new copy of the databse unless there has been a change.

Can you tell me how you are using it?

1. Start the app for the first time
2. Start Calibre on my PC and start the Content Server
3. Create a Content server connection on the app
4. Connect the app to the Content Server
5. Sync the library DB
6. I can now browse rhe library on the app

However, if I exit the app and start it again, there's no trace of the library I just sync, so I've got to start over from 4.

Just making sure I understand. You have a successful connection to your Calibre content server, then you exit the app, still leaving Calibre Content Server running. And when you open the app again, there is no library for your content server, and you have to add it from the beginning again?
it should not be doing that. What device are you using? Is this through your local wifi directly?
Thanks!

You understood perfectly the process I'm following and the flaw I'm experiencing: it is as it is.

Device: Samsung Galaxy A54 with latest stock firmware/Android Os, with current security patches.
Network: local Wi-Fi, 5ghz signal

Please advice.

after connecting the first time did you browse the library and look at some books before exiting?

I'm working on a new build with some reporting ability. Maybe I can trace the issue.
