I've hacked JS+ and DSR to show long names - short names in menus that also have items with long names look 'silly'.

It was another thing. Deferring startup activation probably did the trick.

Just noticed, 'Switch to Wide/Narrow' don't do anything if the standard BD is hidden, they only do anything (move it to the other location) is it is showing.

You need to play around with it, it's a bit weird… which may not be directly related to EBD.

• Major change: a new EBD button now sits next to Virtual Library button on the left side of calibre search bar. Given this accomplishment, the previous compact button that lived next to the Configure Tag Browser button, sometimes overlapping other elements, was removed.
• Users now have an option to toggle short plugin name display
• UI redesign and some fixes related to the narrow bottom details columns full width expansion

As always, I recommend hovering over the controls to see some helpful tooltips!

Whilst recognising that it is optional: Why the special treatment for EBD? It has nothing to do with VLs or Searching, and the button does nothing more or less that having the same button in any other toolbar/menu… except it can have a long name, everywhere else can only have a short name.

If changes to EBD configuration are not Applied, and the dialogue is Closed the changes are lost. IMO there should be an RU sure message. This is not new, been ever thus, meant to raise it earlier.

I'd say two reasons for new button placement:

1. That way it is now at a position where it won't overlap any existing calibre buttons like the Configure and Find on Tag Browser

2. I think of this as an epiphany, it's actually a dream come true. I always felt the Calibre search bar is located too far to the left, on modern wide screens. So, EBD - especially the plugin long name - helps me get the search bar more centered on calibre UI.

There are new arrow buttons in the Bottom Book Details section, to allow moving between BD layout columns without needing to remove them from each layout column, as was the case before.

The 'Customize wide (narrow) BD" option was moved to sit near the columns listers at the lower section.

The Toggle Extended Book Details shortcut still doesn't work

I had it unassigned, then tested setting it to Ctrl + 4... it works fine

Ctrl+Alt+E doesn't work here, nor does Ctrl+4.

And no matter what I set it to it does not show in the menu, whereas all the other shortcuts do show in menu, if they're set.

Where is Ctrl+Alt+E?

Added: I would expect it to be shown at the first item "Extended Book Details". I don't understand why the shortcut names and action item names are not the same… but I don't think that's peculiar to EBD.

FWIW, here is what I found when trying to set Ctrl+Alt+E to any calibre action on any calibre version:

CCR Shortcuts tab info:

Create catalog	Create catalog	None	Ctrl+Alt+°

It does NOT map to Ctrl + Alt + E on my laptop, for some reason! It maps to Ctrl +Alt +Degree Symbol.

Hence, it doesn't work... Yet Ctrl + 4 is tested working on every EBD action.

I swapped the shortcuts for Toggle Extended Book Details and Focus Extended Book panel - they are the two shortcuts I would use, I can get at the other actions via the Book list context or All actions menu.



Ctrl+Alt+E now works for Focus EBD and Ctrl+Shift+E does not work for Toggle EBD.



For some reason the "Toggle Extended Book Details" shortcut is not being hooked to the "Extended Book Details" menu action.
