Boox Leaf 5 - Need help installing Google Play - Page 2

Onyx Boox has just announced the global version of Leaf 5/5c - Go 7 and Go Color 7 (Gen II). It may be possible to replace the Chinese firmware with the global one.

Yeah so waiting it is. From the apperance, both leaf5/5c and go7/7color gen2 look identical, except for the back

I just received note x5, and have the same problem when installing google play. The google service version is the same. Have you solved this problem on either Leaf5 or Note x5? Thanks

I had recently received a Chinese Boox X5 Mini as well, and ran into the same issue when trying to install the Google Play Store APK. I tried various versions, but it would always say it was "stopping" and crash.

In trying to figure it out, I did discover a workaround! What worked for me was to install the Aurora Store APK instead, which is an open source version of Google Play Store. After installing it, all apps I wanted from the Play Store were straightforward to install! I’d recommend reading up about Aurora Store first to understand if it fits your purposes and preferences.

Hope this helps! I was struggling with the Play Store for awhile, and was excited to find this workaround and wanted to share!

Anyone got issues connecting this to PC? When I connect it in USB debug mode, it only charges the device and doesn't show up in Windows Explorer. Not sure what the issue is. At least Booxdrop app works fine, so i managed to install Aurora Play store through it.

Showing up in Windows Explorer is MTP, a/k/a "Transfer files".
I do all my transferring with ADB and don't use MTP.
