Official Firmware Download

Hello, I'm trying to revive my old PRS-600. I bought it when it was new and haven't used it in many years. I am considering installing PRS+ on it and putting it back to use but before I do that, I'd like to make sure I have the latest firmware download ready in case I need to revert back. Unfortunately it looks like Sony's download link for the latest version is down.

Does anyone have the latest firmware for the PRS-600 backed up and could maybe share it?

Thank you.

Hi,
when you google "prs+", you find a google Code Archive. On the fourth page of the "download"-section there is an "Uninstaller of PRS+ for 600, installs standard sony firmware 1.0.01.08040"
No idea if this is the latest and I haven't tried those files for my own readers (no 600), but maybe this is helpful.

Oh that's great, I didn't realize the PRS+ uninstaller also included the official firmware as well. Thank you.

I tried PRS+. I found it awful. It really drained the battery fast. I suggest you don't bother with it.

I wouldn't really consider switching if it weren't for the lack of folder support in the official firmware. I don't like that the ofw sorts my books by metadata or very specific file names because if I have a ton of files, I have to micro manage the naming of them all and many of them don't have metadata set up correctly. I'd rather have folders for specific authors.

I just switched the battery on my reader to a new one that's slightly larger, and more importantly, like 17 years younger, so hopefully battery issues won't be as big of a problem.

You can use collections. calibre supports collection management with Sony Readers. You can customer the Sony Reader driver and put in what column(s) you want to use for collections. This way you don't need directories. And you don't need PRS+ eating your battery.
