Since 4.38.23648 is available for other hardware, why is it not listed as available?

It has not yet been released to the public by Kobo so it does not show as being available to a Kobo ereader or the code used by the downloads site would seem to be the reason.

How much more battery drain does the Kobo remote cause? I ordered a refurbished Libra 2 along with the remote, unaware that this was a problem when pairing the devices.

From the few I know who have a Libra 2 and use the Kobo Remote, it does not seem to be a real issue for them after the 4.38.23648 update.

Coming from 23171, after a huge dilemma, I installed 23648 and the patches. Maybe it's placebo, but my Libra 2 feels snappier when navigating the menus... compared to firmware version .23171. Not sure about the booting process. Maybe it's the same, or even better.

Is it snappier reading ePub & KePub?

I only read KePub, converted in Calibre, if that matters.

Do you find KePub to be faster?

Kepub vs kepub I can't really tell, it feels the same on both firmwares. It's just the menus.

Thanks for that. I may update the firmware just for the snappier menus.

Sorry but I don't understand this. I have a Sage. Are you saying that I could use the Libra2 link?

If you look at the links on Patrick Gaskin's Kobo Firmware Downloads page, you will notice the major difference between any of the links is the hardware generation section.

For example, https://ereaderfiles.kobo.com/firmwa...4.38.23648.zip is the link for the Libra 2 firmware.

If you modify the kobo9 to kobo3 through kobo11, you will download the firmware for that hardware generation, that is for the original question, to download this firmware for the Kobo Elipsa 2E, you would use kobo11.

There is a version of 4.38.23648 for the Sage.

https://ereaderfiles.kobo.com/firmwa...4.38.23648.zip

That's the URL for the Sage. I just replaced the hardware version with the Sage's and there we go.

Although I have doubts about installing a non-released firmware on a device which has a really low repairability score if something goes wrong. On ifixit it says "Repairability: 0 / 10", which is a very low number.
