Kindle Scribe: Should I update from 5.19.2 to 5.19.3?
Hi,
just a short while ago I bought a Kindle Scribe, and sadly when registering it updated to 5.19.2. So currently no jailbreak for my Scribe. But: The new version 5.19.3 has functionality that could be interesting for me. And now I'm not sure whether this update would lower the probability for jailbreaking the Scribe in the nearer future. Should I stay on 5.19.2? Cheers, Joe PS: All my other Kindles are jailbroken, foremost to use KOReader on them |

At this point, unless you have downloaded the 5.19.3 update, it is no longer available from Amazon so you are stuck on 5.19.2 until a new version is released.

Which Scribe? At this point there are 3 generations and the possible jailbreaks for them depend both that and the particular firmware they are running.

There is no jailbreak for 5.19.2. And 5.19.3 was pulled by Amazon so there's no updating to that unless you've either already updated or have downloaded the firmware for your Kindle.

Let me rephrase this: Given that I have a Kindle Scribe (2024) (the one with the white bezel), do I reduce the probability of being able to use a jailbreak that might come out at some time in the future by updating the firmware from 5.19.2 to a newer minor version e.g., 5.19.3 or 5.19.4, should these be released and contain interesting additional functionality?
The underlying question is: How high is the probability that there will be a jailbreak that will not be usable with a firmware version later than 5.19.2? And I know that this is highly speculative… Cheers, Joe |
