I put it on YouTube yesterday before the update got pulled. I only posted in in MobileRead today since I thought maybe it discussed potential reasons why it got pulled.

Since the firmware was pulled, I think the video should also be pulled as it talks about a now non-existent firmware.

I think keeping a record of bugs is important. And keeping a record of features that we don't want removed.

I updated to 5.19.3 manually (including Paperwhite 11th generation)

Wow, did Amazon add the 5.19.3 update for PW gen11 shortly after I uploaded the video and already removed it today? That's fast.

So my understanding is this was the timeline: initially they only released it for 12th gen and 2024 11th gen. And then after the video they added it for 2022 11th gen. And then removed all of them today.

I don't think most people will have a clue what death margins are.

I guess title isn't the best but the video is mostly manga focused, but I received user reports stating that Amazon customer service was explicityly referring to the problems as "death margins." So I think comic readers specifically might be familiar. I didn't make that term. Here is a quote from Amazon customer service a user sent me:

I fully understand your frustration. It’s true that reading manga or comics requires a full-screen display to be comfortable.

I can confirm that we have received several reports regarding these unusual white margins (sometimes referred to as ‘death margins’ by the community) which appeared specifically with update 5.19.2.

I am passing on your specific case to our Kindle development team.

It's NOT the PW11. It's the PW5. The problem is that if you start changing the proper abbreviation, you will confuse some.

No idea if the PW5 will get a new firmware when it released again.

Oh and you really should update the video (in the actual video at the beginning) that 5.19.3 has been pulled. Putting it in the description won't help everyone who watches it because not everyone reads the description. I know I don't always read it.

None of the abbreviations are official. It just what they've been called based on the Kindle model. PW1 to PW6. IMHO, it's actually easier to know which Paperwhite you are talking about when you use PW5 then PW Gen 11.
