The opinion also mentioned that of the 7 current strata council members, 4 of them have cameras. A search on electronic copies of the strata meeting minutes and bylaws did not find any record of permission being needed or granted to install a camera or other recording device. The original complaint came from a neighbour who was worried about being recorded as they walked by on the sidewalk with their current toy. |

So, are dictionaries now listing "I" and "me" as interchangeable synonyms?
Have we officially lost that battle? I can't seem to get through a single hour of modern media consumption without hearing something like "When me and Bob started this project...." And this is from otherwise well-spoken presenters, and from supposedly educated and otherwise well-spoken characters on otherwise well-written scripted shows. It's driving me batty. |

My current pet peeve is 'more quickly'. last week an editorial in the Sydney Morning Herald (Australia's NYT, WaPo, DT - it reprints their columns) had three of them - the first could have been 'faster', the second and third should have been 'further' and 'sooner'. |

My wheelchair funding (I'm currently in process of getting one after several falls) is delayed because my caseworker keeps taking days (or entire weeks) off and ghosting the occupational therapist.

Sorry you need a wheelchair. Is your wheelchair going to be electric or manual?

I'm just amazed how rude my late Gen Z co-workers are. On Thursday a team leader sent out a message on the group app reinforcing old rules and setting a couple of new ones. And the reactions of some of them are wild!
The two additions are that the cashier should now also empty the trash cans in the warehouse and in the offices on a daily basis (which might take two minutes extra) and we have to clean the oven every week (I kinda get the anger on that one; other colleagues don't wipe up their spills and it gets disgusting really quickly). But we're already responsible for cleaning the break room, fridge and coffee machine, so the oven is a logical addition. The team leader who sent out the message didn't feel like responding to the reactions and left that to another team leader. Who quickly shut the discussions down with a message that if you have any concerns to go talk to one of them in person. I know that at least two of them will get a formal warning and both have a contract renewal coming up, so that isn't looking too good for them. But the way the 16-18 year olds reacted, I would never talk to anyone like that, especially a team leader. On the one hand I'm glad that I'm on vacation until after Easter, but I also have to admit I'm very curious how this is going to play out. Last edited by Rumpelteazer; 03-28-2026 at 03:44 PM. |

A laugh was had the next day when one person complained about having their lunch tossed out. It was one of the containers where the salad had evolved to sludge and neither of us wanted to open it. "But those glass containers are expensive". We ended up doing that cleanup on the first Sunday of the month until I switched jobs though it was never as bad as that first time. |

If it's decaying, I have no issue throwing stuff out of the work fridge-- container and all.
I'll never understand why it's so hard to clean up after yourself at work. Do you not wipe up spills in the microwave and clean out your fridge at home? I have no issue throwing out anything past the use by date either. We don't even have a full size fridge and it's for use by 30+ people. If you don't throw it out, I will |

We had a sign that read "Your mother does not live here. Please cleanup after yourself". It didn't seem to make any difference but hope lived on.
On a more humorous side, we had one person who decided that what their salad needed was some Red Savina Habanero peppers for added flavour. Oddly, our resident lunch thief was very upset when they started chowing down on the salad. They also got very little sympathy from anyone else. Last edited by DNSB; 03-28-2026 at 05:11 PM. |

I worked at an industrial research centre in 1966-72. Anyone who planned on working back late would pop a message into the pneumatic message tube before noon asking the canteen to prepare an evening meal. You'd have to cook it yourself and clean up after in their well equipped kitchen… which included lab microwave ovens and autoclaves. The meal comprised soup or salad, meat/fish and 3 veg, a dessert and small carafe of wine (2 glasses). No tea rooms back then, the tea ladies would turn up around 10am and 3am with tea/coffee and biscuits. Morning and afternoon tea, and evening meal was free, lunches weren't.
Don't remember anyone abusing the system, nor the canteen staff. BR |

About cleaning up your own mess. Some colleagues won't do it because "the cashier will clean it up", which includes spills on the table or oven and putting away their dishes in the dishwasher. The same goes for the ladies' restroom (the men's is usually tidy and clean); empty rolls thrown on the floor instead of the trashcan, new rolls not put on the holder, Make-up and coffee stains on the sink and mirror and residue left in the toilet (in Dutch we refer to those as "brake marks"). And I'm not talking about the 16 year olds that work evenings and weekends. I'm talking about grown adults leaving their mess for others to clean up. |
