I added BeckyEbook's code for the image fitting and I quite like it. Much simpler than what I was playing with. With the image fitted to the window, I don't really care if the dimensions are at the top or bottom.
Link for the version with the image fit to window is: Removed link see message #97 for new version. Last edited by DNSB; Yesterday at 02:40 PM. Reason: Removed link. |

I have no trouble discerning which window tab is active in other tabbed apps on Windows 10 or 11 in dark mode. That includes firefox, chrome, xplorer² file manager, MS Office (via add-on), the calibre book editor etc, etc.
I do have to look a bit harder in Sigil, so my eyes look to the red cross as the differentiator. BR |

I've attached a sample from an ePub I just opened. This is a bloody fleuron not a full page image.

But if people need that visual aid, then they need it. I'll see if working some of Becky's qss into Sigil's Classic dark theme will work without any issues. I think the clearly darker tab background is enough (without the blue bar) myself, so I'll probably start there. If you're seeing the red cross, @BR, you're not using the Classic Sigil dark theme. You're using Qt's default dark theme. I refuse to do much in the way of diddling with that theme. Remember that users are free to apply their own custom qss to either theme to tweak things to their liking. That's what the qt_styles.qss feature was introduced for in the first place. |

If you have multiple tabs open across the top it is more convoluted to find/activate the tab corresponding to the page that is displayed in the preview pane. |

Ah, well that seems like a different issue to me. An "Activate Preview's Current Code Tab" thing. I can see the usefulness there. Just not sure how best that could be accomplished.

Ideally Sigil would just read my mind….
But, since a single click in the preview pane forces a sync in code view, could a double click or right click in the preview pane to activate the html code view be plausible?? |

To try to summarize for my sake:
We have 1 vote for full size images (me) and 3 or 4 votes for fitted images. I can see that if all you want is size info without scrolling, the move to top for the descriptive info will save scrolling for some full size images, (but Get Info will tell you the same thing). I do not think it matters, if images are fitted, whether the descriptive info is at top or bottom (no good arguments yet presented one way or the other). Is this pretty much correct? How about as a compromise we use full size in the Image Tab since it is showing the image as it truly is, but the Image Viewer shows it as fitted, and we move the descriptive info to the top for the Image Tab (the full size one). That way if I want full size I double click on an Image file in BookBrowser and can see the actual image, but if I want it fitted I instead use the right click Image Viewer option. That Image Viewer option (fitted) will be used when you right click on a image in CodeView so you can always see everything. That way no Sigil functionality is truly lost (ie seeing the image at its actual size is still possible).. Thoughts on this compromise? Last edited by KevinH; Yesterday at 01:06 PM. |

I will look into if there is a way to use a double click or some new Preview toolbar icon to bring up Preview's current file to the front in Tab Manager.
I think that is what people are asking for. |

I have used the wrong X when using different desktop apps (Forming an answer for MR and switch to Sigil or Calibre to verify my words and accidentally close the browser and lose my reply that may be extensive. Not the apps fault but any help appreciated.) |

It is about knowing which tab WAS active before you leave to do something, so you know where to return. A simple 'back' might not always work if you need to browse elsewhere.
As you say: it is how WE logically work a task. That is/maybe different for others. |

Have you tried adding a BookMark before going to another tab. Then using the Return. Doesn't that work?
